... and now for the consequences

I was all for anonymity when this lice thing came out. I tell parents at the back to school night to invest in a $10 lice comb and check monthly. I tell them it is not a school issue, though it can spread anywhere. My administration decided to send a school wide email and now, after the whole school check, which I opposed, there is a child who has missed 2 days of school. Yesterday because she was sent somewhere to be rechecked, because we can't be trusted, and today because some "doctor" stated that she should not come back until the infection is gone. This mother did not keep her snowflake home when we had a 15% Flu rate, and that can be deadly. People are just plain stupid.

I said the same thing, but then my AP went on my that I need to do my job. So I was forced to check. And LO AND BEHOLD, NOTHING! So I told my AP and I ended with that. Thank GOD that the Kinder and 1st grade teachers are changing as well as my supervisior AP.

I once reminded an administrator that people like to sue for all sorts of stuff these days and an assessment involving me touching a child's head that is unwarranted due to a lack of symptoms could put me in a really tough place legally. (Also, almost all the parents in our district are doctors and lawyers, so that's a constant reminder). I reminded her that I would chart how the referral for me to check happened to cover myself and that she should be aware I would do it for all administrator-initiated checks.

And then I never had to check anyone unless it was actually needed ever again.

I did spend the rest of the day wondering if I was going to get the boot, though

I told them before about this but they said that if that happens, we will deal with it when it comes our way. And I know that that's not going to be pretty because the other side will win because it's not a MANDATED screening. So yeah, but as I said our APs are changing so yeah. Way easier on me.
