I wanted to start a thread for anyone who has applied to Novant's nurse residency program. I had a general interview with HR last week and then a "meet the team" zoom this week. Did anyone else have to interview twice? Has anyone heard back?
Anxiously waiting a decision.
Hello everyone!
I posted on this thread a year ago when I got offered a position. At first they offered me Cardiac specialty in Winston Salem area and I decided to accept it because I knew Novant was a great hospital system overall and as a new nurse I was going learn and then move to my dream specialty after a year. I have been at Novant since July in the residency program and I absolutely love it. They have a lot of support for new nurses that really is what matters for the first year into the career. At Novant you get to rotate to different units during residency and it's very nice since you get to see options before selecting a home unit.
@Carolina Castro okay that makes me feel a lot better! I would/will be relocating 8 hours away for the position, so I was feeling a little apprehensive. Is transferring easy even if it's not part of your residency track? I understand I have to complete the residency first, but when I am done my dream is NICU and I know a lot of people want that speciality.
The residency program has another opportunity to shadow other units if you didn't get your first choice so I would say that is an advantage that other hospitals I applied to didn't have because usually you get a position in one specific unit and and you are stuck there even if you don't like it. Happy to help 🙂

I start the residency program in one week. Can you tell me what orientation was like. For the first week we are 8-5 Monday - Friday and then after that I start on the floor? But that is all they have told us.

They emailed me a new offer for Wilmington, but I still wasn't offered Women's Health. I'm still debating what to do. During my interview my recruiter only talked about Women's Health and I was told by interviewing so early, it would be very likely I would get the speciality I wanted. Very disappointed.
What area were you offered?
