Hello everyone !!
I was looking for a post for the Entry-Level BSN program for Winter 2016 at Nova and I couldn't find one, so I decided to make one where we could all get in contact to discuss and share our experience, tips, thoughts and questions on this journey !
So, I guess I'll begin with mine!! I originally began my application to Nova April 30th (kind of late considering their deadline for registration was June 1st) for the Fall Semester. After I submitted both my nursingCAS and the NSU application, it took about 2 weeks to receive a response. I got my email for the interview May 19th. I immediately registered for an interview (June 4th, tomorrow!!!) and began to prepare.
I called Nova, to see if I could get some feedback as to what I could use to study from, or if there was any specific book I could purchase. The girl who I spoke to kindly informed me that there was no specific study guide and that the test would be based on previous knowledge from my prerequisites. With that being said, I immediately started googling and finding out as much information as possible about the Exam and the interview process (where I came to find this website that has genuinely helped me so much with gathering info). I then purchased the "Nursing School Entrance Exams" Kaplan book through Amazon, which cost me around $20, and began to study from that. I can' t tell you guys yet if that worked for me or not since we don't know the exact material of the exam and I hadn't taken the exam yet, but I'll make sure to come back and let you guys know how it went!
I received a call last week on Friday, that there were no more available seats for the Fall Term 2015. The girl I spoke to advised me to still present myself to the interview and take the exam. She also told me that the application could be moved to the Winter Term and that way I don't have to apply all over again and go through the same process. So, that's what I plan on doing.
I am so nervous for the exam more than anything, since I don't know what to expect, but I am trying to stay positive.
Good luck to all the new applicants for Winter Term and those that are on the same boat as me. Hopefully we are all together soon in the BSN program at NSU!!!!!!!
Hiiiii, congrats on your acceptance!! I have been so busy with school I completely forget about this threat sometimes!! For first semester I just recommend you get your A&P book. I didn't get it and I did good it the class but I have heard that it will be good reference for semester to come such as second which I am in now!! You're going to do great and you're going to have one of the best professors ever for that class!! There will be no baptist main clinicals this semester since they couldn't find an instructor! And yes definitely get things with time (scrubs, shoes, supplies etc.)! Happy for you! Congrats again!
Hi everybody, congratulations to everyone who were accepted and finished their first semester! I was just accepted into the nova BSN program and start now fall 2016. I wanted feedback as to what the first semester is like and if anybody applied for the baptist scholarship and went through the interview, what questions I can expect. Also what books do you need for the first semester? I feel like I should buy them ahead of time and start reading and studying. Any information would really help! Thank you!
Hiii ndelc7! No problem at all!
It's going good!! Very veru busy and hectic semester but good!! I bought my scrubs through all uniform wear. I know some of my friends purchased their scrubs through the school website and it took a while for them to receive their scrubs!
Thanks for getting back to me! How is it going so far? For the scrubs did you buy it directly through them or did you get a more comfortable pair?
Yudi,
THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting all this intel!
I have my interview this coming tuesday at the ft lauderdale campus!
I had the opportunity to pick the brain of a friend who just completed the program about the interview and the program. Back when he interviewed, there was no exam portion so it's great to have a better idea of whats coming. Do you believe it would be a good idea to bring a copy or two of my resume and references? Also, What did you wear to the interview? Im thinking of wearing a skirt suit or a Modest dress with a dress jacket.
Thanks again, and hope you have enjoyed the program!
Really ? That's awesome gives me some hope !! Lol if u don't mind me asking what have been the Kaplan scores that have been accepted into the program so far ? Really nervous about that exam
Honestly I know of people that have gotten even a 60% in the science and other subjects and they have been accepted. Just try to rock the interview. Don't be nervous (even though I know it's impossible not to be) and just be yourself! It's not as bad as it seems! You'll do amazing!
Hi guys I have just recently been accepted to Nova but I had a question in regards to the pre reqs for the entry nursing program. I took liberal arts at Broward College and it is equivalent to the math 1050 that nova has..does anyone or could anyone tell me if I would still have to take the math 1040 (college algebra). I know for sure I need to take statistics. If someone could please inform in any way it would be greatly appreciated! Congrats to everyone who got accepted 🤗

Hi,
the only book you need to buy is the one for math for a&p they provide u with the books and intro to nursing is really optional, I didn't buy it myself and I didn't need it...Congrats
