Not working during nursing school?

Published

For those of you that didn't work during nursing school and are single with no one to support you how did you pay for your bills and expenses?

I'm taking the prereqs now and applying and this is my biggest worry as everyone said I will have to significantly cut back.

Lol. It just seemed funny to say at the time. I was looking for any grants or scholarships I didn't know about so I followed to the end hoping for something but ended up reading a debate about tax dollars lol

In my case I worked throughout nursing school , working 12hr shifts Friday, Saturday and Sunday , but cut back to Friday and Saturday during my last semester . During breaks I worked at much as I could. I would be starting np school in the spring and I still plan on working full time. You can do it just takes some planning

A very, very tiny portion of your tax money goes to food assistance. The majority of it goes to war. But that is off topic.

I think you could work and go to nursing school depending on the program. I have worked a whopping 5 hours per week this semester and I'm not going to even be able to do that next semester. I'm in an accelerated program.

In my program your clinicals could be any day of the week anytime from 6 am to 11 pm., and they will change every semester. That is a problem for holding a job. We get some choice, but no guarantees.

Unless your work is very, very flexible, you can't keep your job in my program.

But in a traditional bsn program that takes more time you may be able to keep a job.

Yeah baby cause everything is just freaking free, right?

Your argument is fallacious because a) very few of your tax dollars go towards welfare, certainly not enough for you to notice and b) most people on welfare do work and pay taxes (taxes on public services that you and everyone else uses.)

Your attitude towards those on assistance is honestly very hateful and just plainly ignorant/judgmental.

And your tone is pure sweetness, lol. I love that you feel entitled to decide how much of my wasted money I might notice.

As I originally wrote I have no problem with people who truly need public assistance to care for their children however I do take issue with those who are using it to make their life less stressful. I'm entitled to my opinion and if you disagree no problem but frankly calling me hateful is out of line.

I have already got accepted to one nursing program but i changed schools. So now I will be applying to their program. But I will not be working while I attend nursing program, but I will be doing nurse corps while attending nursing school. If you interested I will give you more information.
