I'm a single mom trying to finish up my prereqs. I go to a CC which has a nursing program and its based off the point system. My Commulative Gpa isnt so great for a CSU its 3.5 right now and for a UC 3.6. Luckily, my CC only uses prereq GPA, ive had all A''s so far except for anatomy which i got a B in. Im taking physio now, I havent been doing the best ( two test so far a C and F) but the last test I got a 88% (two tests to go plus a research paper and lab book due)so Ive figured out the best way for me to study. Its just hard to find time to study because I have a 9 month old and no help. The last test I had to wake up at 4am, and stay up reallly late because she cant sleep by herself, always wakes up when I get up.
Anyways, I have a dilemma. I want to apply to a few schools so I can try and get in for next spring. So the deadline ranges from like june-august for the schools I want to apply. I applied for the CNA program in the summer at my CC and got accepted. However, I really need to finish up Micro so I can apply to the programs. MY counselor advised me to do the CNA program and study the teas, in the summer, take micro fall semester, then apply to the program. But I realized later, I wouldnt be able to apply. At my CC, the prereqs have to be completed beforehand. But being a CNA gives you extra points... Also my counselor told me to take micro in the fall, so that I have a better chance of getting an A. As I said earlier, I have a baby and have a very difficult time finding anytime to study and a summer course there are tests like everyday meaning Id need to study a lot everyday.
So I really dont know what to do. I really want to be finished with my prereqs so I can apply. I've been going to this school for a really long time, I have my AA already, but took many classes that turned out to be a waste of time. I live with my parents, but they work so as i said, not much help. The CNA liscense would help, but then I couldnt take micro and be able to apply. Im so lost and discouraged about what to do. Any advice would help. Sorry, I have to add my gpa is not so great. It seems that many schools in CA the average GPA to get in the program is like a 3.8 and up.

Speed isn't everything. It's better to get a good grade than to try to cram it all in and do poorly. You will need a LOT of study time for Micro. It's not easy. If you're struggling with Physiology, then Micro is definitely going to be hard for you. I know you want to get through it fast, but what's the point if you don't get the grades you need?

Maybe u should try to put the baby in daycare if u can ur city should help pay for it being that u in school or work! Don't give up if that's something u really want! But I think u should try to figure out what to do before u get into the program because it's ALOT of studying once ur in! GOOD-LUCK
