Hi everyone, starting a forum to discuss updates about the hiring process for Northwell's August 2023 Fellowships. Just applied last week to NSUH and LIJ, haven't heard anything yet.

hi, wanted to pop in and reply. I applied for the April 2023 onc fellowship at lijmc and got an on demand interview which I completed on Tuesday night. from reading other threads it seems like they post openings months in advance and don't start reviewing apps until closer to the start month.

what fellowship did you apply to?

Also applied in Feb and to some other locations in March, still haven't heard anything

I have not applied to a fellowship program because I am very interested in starting in the NICU and do not see that as a fellowship option. Does anyone know if new grads can apply to the NICU or do you have to start in a fellowship? Can you apply to a fellowship and once contacted discuss other units?

You can apply as a new grad but you have to pass NCLEX first in order to apply to non-fellowship job postings. Else it auto throws out your application

Has anyone heard back from the August fellowships?

When did you apply? I applied last week for the critical care fellowship in Manhattan and have not heard anything yet.

I actually just applied yesterday. The thing is I just passed my NCLEX and will be away for a month. I wanted to start at April but I just found out I'll be away for most of April and will miss their start date. I decided to apply to August instead. I just don't know how long it will take to hear back. I'll be ready to work by May. I don't know if I should apply to other units/hospitals incase I don't hear back. At the same time I don't wanna have to leave after going through all that orientation if I do hear back since the fellowship is my top choice.

If you are doing a fellowship some of the classes are online. I would ask the requiter if you can miss two weeks for April, but probably not. Does not hurt to ask though. I do think August may be harder to get in since more people apply for the august one. If you could wait until August for a job that is great. Work life in the hospital is very different than nursing school. I wish I took a long break before starting. I would also apply to other hospitals with a start date in August just in case. Always good to have more than one option. Good luck!
