Northern Illinois University Admission to Fall 2014 Program

Published

Hi everyone,

I am currenty applying to some nursig schools, and NIU is one of my top choices, I am very nervous and excited at the same time to see if I get accepted, wondering if there is anyone else out there applying too :) maybe we can help each other and get some info :)

I got mine yesterday too, starting in the Fall :) ! Hope everyone else will hear soon too!

I got accepted for the fall :-) ! Now I don't know if im gonna continue with Aurora University's program... ahhh...

Gabriela i feel the same exact way! i feel like im going to go to NIU, let me know what you decide? :D

Ahhh. I feel like I'm going to choose AU instead. They are both great achools... and I feel like I will have more time to study and will save more money since AU is 5 munutes away...

Makes sense, i would also go to the school thats closer that makes a whole lot difference! I decided to go to NIU, because it ends up cheaper for me, and both schools are not close to me lol, and i have a good friend whos going there too. Have fun at Aurora i know it will be awesome there! :)

Hey guys :) I'm wondering if any of you ended up in NIU's nursing program? I am set to start the program next year because I got admitted straight out of high school! Any advice, things you wish you would have known, ect? :) Thanks!

Hey there!

I ended up going to NIU! Its a good school, they have a nice schedule for classes that arent too overwhelming especially in second track. My best advice is, you definately need to make some connections in school, make friends with a group of people because then you can decrease thw amount of workload you have between all of you, and it helps when making study guides and studying for tests, everyone knows something someone else doesnt know. Also sign up for a mentor, if you get a good one they can be very helpful!

Thanks for answering!!! I will definitely make sure to sign up for a mentor :) The advice about finding a group of friends/study partners is good too, I'll be sure to try and do that :)

Hi, I hope you can respond soon because I'm so nervous... But what was your gpa for pre reqs? i'm applying as a transfer and my pre req gpa is low... 3.18 ... NIU is the only school I can afford and the only school near enough for my comfort zone. I also scored a 94 or 95 on my accuplacer. please let me know ASAP. thanks

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail. A lot earlier that I thought.. But I'm an niu student so maybe that's why. Check your mailboxes! So glad the wait is over for me haha. Good luck everyone stay positive !

What was your GPA?

Just got mine today also. I was accepted to start in the Spring. I'm disappointed I won't be starting this Fall and not sure why, but I'm happy to just be admitted. How did everyone else do?

What was your GPA and accuplacer test score?

I don't know a lot of people who took the Accuplacer, because a lot of them opted out of it from doing so well on the ACT. Most of the applicants accepted (that I know)have a GPA of a 3.8 or higher. However, I have heard that it can vary depending on the year :) I know one girl who got in a few years ago with a 3.5! But another thought- If you are near NIU then you are near Kishwaukee Community College. They have an excellent ASN Nursing program. So if NIU doesn't work out, you could apply there! Don't give up hope!!! Have you shown interest in the school? Taken a tour? Talked to an advisor? All those things would have bettered your chances (possibly) :)
