Northern Arizona University FNP Program acceptance

Published

I was just accepted to Northern Arizona University's FNP Program for Fall 2014. Looking to make connections with others who were accepted to NAU as well.

I got accepted for NAUs part time FNP Program starting this fall as well. Does anyone else live outside of the Flagstaff area? I am in the Phoenix Metro Area!

Az_RN_BSN- I live in Phoenix metro area as well! I have ER experience as you do. We should try to form up a study group!

I know this thread is old now, but if any of you are still on here, can you give a review on NAU's program? I live in the Phoenix metro area and have small kids, so driving up to Flagstaff for clinicals every week is not really that doable...on their website they do list sites in Phoenix, but I'm sure there's a lot of competition. How long does the program take? Did you find it strenuous?

Did you find out more info about this program?? I'm also in the Phoenix area, have a family with 3 kiddos, and it's been like pulling teeth trying to get SPECIFICS from the advisor. I keep getting copied and pasted emails. Nothing actually personally responding to my questions.

Are any of you doing the FNP MSN program at NAU with having a previous BA in a different field? I wanted to find someone with a previous degree in another field that is going straight to the MSN FNP program and bypassing the bsn. Is this a very competitive program? Does anyone know what it means by "RN experience preferred but individual basis is evaluated". Not exact wording but basically it sounds like they want an experienced RN but are willing to take someone without it and they evaluate that. But what do they evaluate? Thanks!!

I emailed them and asked about the preference for rural nursing, mentioning it would be hard to go to rural areas because of my young kids, and they basically said they are geared to rural communities and clinical is far from me. So, I gave up! I'm going to start at Frontier in April! Can't wait!!

Do you you know where the rural areas are? What is frontier? Another np program? Do you have a bsn or a degree in another area? I have a BA in psychology so the NAU program interests me because they have it available for students like me.

I think the rural areas are north, I got the idea they were on reservations or super tiny towns between Phoenix and Flagstaff.

NursingAZ, did you find anyone doing the FNP MSN program at NAU that had a previous BA in a different field?

Does the AZBN accept Frontier as a viable college?
