North Shore Operating Room Fellowship-January 2015

U.S.A. New York

Hey all!

Recently north shore put up an application for their operating room fellowship to start in January. Am I the only one who didn't know they had one for the OR or is this a new thing? Anyway I managed to get lucky enough to get an interview for this coming Monday and I'm nervous as hell! I'm a BSN new grad so this is pretty much my first real interview since graduating In May. I had a phone interview with North Shore before which of course went horribly and I was hoping to get some pointers from ppls about interviewing. Hopefully if anyone else got an interview or applied this can also be an outlet to vent about the process (good or bad lol). Anyway hopefully all goes well. I would really appreciate any advice or insight! :)

No problem! I know its weird to see it reposted but who knows what could happen. I actually got a second interview for it with a nurse manager on Tuesday which I'm really excited about! Hopefully you guys get a positive outcome as well :)

Goodluck Toussaint03!

Thank you so much!! Same to you!

Good luck everyone!! My friend is in the October program for this, and she said that almost everyone in it had externed or at least volunteered in some sort of OR/ER setting.

Thanks! That's really good to know :)

ohh so if we didnt extern or volunteer there we dont have a chance? :( In my BSN program we didnt have the summer off to do externships as it was an accelerated BSN and then i been working since graduation first as RN in primary care and then in inpatient unit in hospital so no time to volunteer. Its so tough to change specialties. Struggles all around...either new grad or experience...we all in the same boat.

Nono, I just meant that many of the accepted NEW GRAD applicants had some sort of OR/ER exposure whether it be from volunteering or an externship.. or they had experience working as PCAs/nursing aides in school. But if if you already work a nursing job, you will also be considered.. since you seem to have some good experience already, you will definitely have a shot! Good luckkkk!!

I'm a fresh new grad.. and was rejected from LIJ in October. I've applied to some HHC hospitals but haven't heard anything yet.. would love some advice about getting into the city hospitals :(
