North Shore Operating Room Fellowship-January 2015

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hey all!

Recently north shore put up an application for their operating room fellowship to start in January. Am I the only one who didn't know they had one for the OR or is this a new thing? Anyway I managed to get lucky enough to get an interview for this coming Monday and I'm nervous as hell! I'm a BSN new grad so this is pretty much my first real interview since graduating In May. I had a phone interview with North Shore before which of course went horribly and I was hoping to get some pointers from ppls about interviewing. Hopefully if anyone else got an interview or applied this can also be an outlet to vent about the process (good or bad lol). Anyway hopefully all goes well. I would really appreciate any advice or insight! :)

Hey there! Good luck with your interview. I was wondering if you could give me some pointers for the telephone interview. I have one coming up next week and have no idea what to expect as I have always interviewed face to face. You must have done well if they called you in for a formal interview :-)

No quite the contrary actually haha I think I did horrible! The telephone interview was for a per diem job not for this. I am beyond nervous for this interview. I actually just commented on the post you wrote and only after realized that you commented here as well. Just try not to over think things and try not to sound too rehersed just to add on what I said in the other post. Hopefully this helps!

Thank you again. Good luck with your interview!

Hello Toussaint03,

How was your interview. I hope it went well.

Hey! I think it went ok. As per usual they asked some behavioral questions and things like what you've been doing since graduation, etc. I was an extern with them and she seemed to remember my name so I'm hoping that's a good thing. I did get some info on the fellowship though. From what I understood it was going to take place at their hospital in the city but its actually opened up to all the sites. I asked her how many people they usually take and she said it depends on how many positions she gets from the hospitals but about 10-12 people. So pretty much now I'm just waiting to hopefully hear back soon. Thanks for asking! Did you ever hear back from them DestinedRN?

That's great! I hope you hear good news soon. I never heard from them but I am hopeful that one of the other programs I applied for will work out.

Thanks I hope so too and I hope things turn up for you too hopefully soon!

Has anyone else applied and heard back from the recruiters for this fellowship?

Nope. I applied to both Critical Care and OR Fellowships and I havent heard back. I emailed a recruiter whose email i found through google search an hour after I applied to Critical Care , reiterating my interest in the fellowships and attached resume. She only replied "Please apply online". To which I said I already had...that was the end of communication :( I been applying for 9 months when i was a new grad and recently started to apply again 3 month ago since I now have experience but i get the same treatment. Maybe I dont know how to pass the "online filters".

To all that apply to NSLIJ , anything specific to attach to the online app or what to do to get noticed?

Thank you.

Just to let you all know, for anyone who wanted to apply to the nslij OR fellowship it has been reposted. I don't know for how long so take advantage while you can! Good luck everyone!

I saw it and reapplied. I don't understand why they did that though but who knows.

Thanx for the heads up, Toussaint! I reapplied also. Usually when jobs get reposted, it means they did not get enough applicants to choose from (which i doubt in the case of NSLIJ) Or they did not get enough applicants that meet the qualifications based on the application (which i also doubt, come on now...we all have BSN and RN license plus other qualities that qualify us either hospital experience or student intership, etc). I wonder what Exactly they are looking for or how they have the computer software "weed" people out.
