Endorsement Process

I recently moved to ND to start my very first job, but applied to the Iowa BON before I knew about the ND job offer as I am originally from Iowa. What is the process like to endorse into ND? How long does it take? Thanks

I just endorsed over as well since I'm starting my first job next month. This site should help you with the process.

It doesn't take long at all. I applied 5/15 and my full license was posted 6/9 but I waited 2 weeks to send in my fingerprints so I delayed it a bit. But once they had all my paperwork my license number was posted the next business day. Once you apply and they get your transcripts or your original license verification from Iowa they will give you a 3 month temporary license.

iowa is a compact state. you dont need to endorse anything. I am from texas and am using my texas license.

Yes you need to endorse if you changed your state of residence. You have 30 days to work on you IA compact license (unless you were never a resident of IA, in that case you have an IA only license)

Just like a drivers license. Once you move you have 30 days to endorse your license. .

I was told for me by my BON as long as I have a Texas Driver's license with a valid permanent address in Texas I will be fine.

My mother's address will be my permanent address until I decide to settle down. When she moves I will alter my address and change my BON Address.

If you don't change your permanent residence (like military families and travel nurses) you are fine if it's a temporary move. Just like if you rent an apartment in college for 3 years but go home for breaks and keep your parents' home as your permanent address.

I guess, I dont plan on living here for more than 2 years. I plan on going back to texas for breaks to visit family.

So we moved here on June 1st, wont get my nursing license until the end of the month (hoping I pass:)), and I plan on changing my driver's license AFTER I pass my nursing exam. In ND we can go 90 days without changing the drivers license. I hope that since I actually moved here a month before I take my exam doesnt mess with my residency. I mean, my test is the 26th and that wont give me much time to get an endorsement within that 30 day time period. Shoot..

At least I used my parent's home as my primary residence when I applied to the IA BON, so hopefully I can use that until I take the test at least. Ha this is very confusing.

It goes from date of license issue. Are you going to work before you have a license issued?

You can work for 30 days on the IA license. Once your IA license posts apply for endorsement right away. At least this way it shows good faith effort on your part. It will be close but not impossible

Thanks for clarifying! My start date is supposed to be June 30th, but that will never happen considering my exam is the 26th. So no I do not plan on working as a GN. I am so mad at myself for applying to IA, but this is a learning process for sure! Thanks everyone for clarifying, I thought I kind of ruined things for myself, but sounds like it will be okay. Thanks again!
