Pay at Rex, wakemed

Hello everyone,

I've read previous posts online regarding pay of both these facilities. But just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything.

I am a ADN trained RN with 1 year 8months ICU experience who is in the process of completing my BSN.

For a position in the CVICU and MICU is a offer of $23 and change, and a offer of $24 and change sound about right for this area?

I really loved North Carolina when I visited but these offers are both well under what I'm making now in texas. From what I've seen cost of living looks to be about the same.

Has anyone heard of them offering hiring or relocation bonus's as of late?

I am going to go ahead and tell you, it is VERY difficult to get a job at Rex.

I've seen posts about that... I have a offer at both. I'm just very taken back about the base pay since it is less than I make now by a bit... :(

Going to decide over the weekend. Do the amounts sound about right to you?

It does. That's a pretty good pay rate, as I make a few dollars less than that where I work (however, our weekend and night diff is amazing). Do you know the weekend differential there?

The weekend diff is 10 for both places say/sun. Which is much better than texas but in order for me to benefit from the move id have to work those days lol or I'd be losing in pay.

Are renting apartments reasonably priced there in the Cary, north Raleigh area? It looks like some places include utilities in the rent.

I'm not sure, I don't live in the Raleigh area. However, the apartments in NC in general are usually reasonably priced, depending on location. I'm in more of a "ritzier" location and my rent is $820/month including pet rent for a one bedroom.

That pay is correct. I work at Rex, and love it. If you take the CVICU, we will have a brand new Heart hospital ready next year. It's awesome.

Yeah the feel I got from interviews was that Rex seems to work with and appreciate the RNs.

Even with doing nights it would be a $4-5 pay cut for me... But I rlly do like NC.

What part of town is your home? I'd love to have something like that!

I'd be in the M/SICU at Rex although they mentioned they would cross train me for all the ICUs.

I live on the outskirts of Raleigh, called knightdale. It's about 15 minutes from the hospital. Most of the outlying towns are cheaper except for Cary, which tends to be more expensive. There are certain areas of Raleigh that are reasonable as well

Not only is living cheaper but most other costs are too.

My light bill average is about $150

Water about $80-$90

Gas is $2.23 a gallon right now

I have friends that work in MS

And they really like it

The pay is right. I work at Rex. My apartment is 2 beds 2 baths, 7 minutes from Rex and only $740 a month. Pretty good deal. Good luck! :)

I think I have decided. Im going to try and accept one offer as full time and the other as a prn/supplemental... If they will let me.

:) looking forward to getting to NC, and starting a new adventure.
