Norovirus going around!

Don't you just hate when you hear that the norovirus is going around?

It's aparantly going around rampantly in my area and have been very cautious when around those who show symptoms.

Have any of you had it?

Only thing that tops puking alongside the road is when you are doing it at 3am because of a deadly burrito. Soon enough there are pretty red and blue lights behind me convinced I'm drunk. Fun times. :banghead:

Sorry to laugh at your predicament, but that's funny! I hope you were able to convince the cops that you were just suffering from food poisoning.

Just be diligent with your hand-washing.

Fomites, fomites, fomites!

You're only going to get it if you eat someone else's poop, and the best way to avoid doing that is to make sure you're washing your hands properly every time you touch anything going near your lips.

Up until recently that was thought to be it's primary route of transmission, but more recent evidence shows that it's often airborne and is frequently present in sufficient concentrations in the air not only in patient rooms, but also hallways, nursing stations, entire cruise ships, etc.

I find this very interesting and not impossible to believe. However, this one study does not offer conclusive evidence that norovirus is actually spread this way, only that it was present in the air in certain concentrations. In other words, more study is needed to draw any conclusions.

If the study can be replicated and causal effects proven, it will definitely have some interesting and important implications for hospitals. What cruise ships, schools, and dormitories can do will be another matter altogether.

Thanks for posting; this is an interesting development.
