I'm interested in doing some medical work overseas, but I'm no longer religious and was wondering about organizations or programs that are not religiously affiliated. I know of Doctors without Borders, but that's the only one I've really heard of. Any other ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.
I'd be willing to go with a religiously based group, but want to explore my options. I guess I could just google it but this forum usually offers some good advice.......

thread moved for best response
I appreciate you trying to put this thread in the right category, but I think I would be getting more responses if it had been left in the "general nursing discussion" where I had originally posted it. I don't think anyone frequents the "volunteer nursing" section. I, for one, didn't even know it existed. If you don't mind, please put this thread back to general discussion. Thanks.

Just look on google for secular medical missions and you'll find them. Good luck! And thank you for doing what I can't do right now!

I don't know if you're looking for a short term or long term assignment, but I volunteer with Refuge International to Guatemala. They go several times/year. Also, check out One Nurse At A Time...they give financial support to nurses and have quite a long listing of organizations that organize medical trips. I'm sure you could find one there to match your interests.
