I apologize if this has already been asked. I recently completed a PMHNP program. However, I have been reflecting on my entire nursing career, thoughts about nursing/healthcare, the quality of my post-baccalaureate education, my personality, my strengths, my weaknesses, my mental health issues. I don't think I'm going to pursue the PMHNP career track. I was a suck *** RN. I never felt competent, confident, or safe. I didn't trust my skills and had to be "babysat" well past the expiration date. I job hopped alot when I couldn't cut it. I pursued a NP because of my goal to have a better understanding of the disease process and treating disease. I want or wanted to be a healthcare provider. I currently work as a clinical nurse educator for a contracting company that partners with pharmaceutical companies. I looking for potential career opportunities for MSN-educated nurses that are non-direct patient care. Thank you for reading.

But you are well educated and can make contributions to a health care program....think about your strengths

I am not trying to be snarky, but when you didn't cut it as a RN you tried to pursue being a NP when it requires probably 100x more knowledge and responsibility/accountability.
Just trying to make it make sense...

My original career goal was to be a physician-not a nurse for reasons I've already explained. At this point in time, I'm not sure if that's what I really want. The knowledge and responsibility/accountability are not the issue. Please address the topic of the discussion or move along.

You never felt competent or safe as bedside nurse yet you still pursued NP school and continue to look at being a MD. That’s like saying I’m not competent at crawling but I can run/walk fine. That makes 0 sense, but whatever.
Nursing degrees aren’t as valuable as you would think outside the clinical realm and without clinical experience they are worth even less. Bane of being niche. They are bested by most relevant degree within business/health admin. You could look at being a drug rep no specific degree required) or working for companies like Stryker. I’d avoid educators roles disaster management as listed above is bested by others with the actual degree in the field…
