Procedural units are far more technical focused instead of emotional support focused. Specialties like the OR, IR, vascular access, Cath Lab, etc.
My work has me dealing with "bean counters" on nearly a daily basis. I am finding that I am encountering more and more nurses in these positions throughout the country and regardless whether they are nurses or not, they care.
What floor nurses struggle with is the concept of resource triage. Just like when you were kids, when you hear "no" it does not mean "I don't care."

No...what floor nurses struggle with is this accusation ^ coupled with the fact that nothing remotely similar can ever apply to patients.
My goodness what a terrible statement. Just like when we were kids???

Just my perspective that I developed as I started working with more and more senior leaders. I used to think bean counters were all nurse/patient hating jerks until I started interfacing with them more. Turns out most of them are just as compassionate as any other floor nurse that I work with, they just have a different perspective.
From some of the temper tantrums I have seen on this forum and in my work life I think my statement is accurate.

I have nothing further to say in a discussion about the perspectives of the "kids" versus the "senior leaders."
Take care ~
