No Response from hospitals I summitted to...NEED ADVICE

Published

Hi all!

I am hoping to begin my first travel assignment soon with a company with a great reputation. My recruiter submitted my name to two hospitals that I wanted to go to. THat was 1 1/2 weeks ago and I have not heard from the nurse managers, neither has my recruiter. She says she is "working on it". She even asked me for other hospitals to submit to. I gave her two more, but I don't really want to go to them, I kinda feel like I had to hurry and submit somewhere else. How long should I wait for a call from the two hospitals I really want before I move on? I don't want to make a hasty decision. My recruiter said that the jobs have not been filled yet, so we have no idea what is taking so long. I have a friend who is with American Mobile and she had no problem getting her first assignment. I don't know how she likes the company yet. Should I wait a while longer or go with another company/recruiter? Has anyone had this problem. Oh yeah, I am still employed, and I want to have my contract signed and all my ducks in a row before I quit. I really appreciate all honest advice!!! Thanks!!!!!:uhoh3: :uhoh3: :uhoh3: :uhoh3:

I hate to say this but I've found this problem repeatedly. Even as a staff member. Waited almost a month in 2001 for a call about a PACU job at a prestigious medical center. Finally got the interview, got an offer, hmmmed and got a dollar more just for hmmmmmmmmmmming. So guess they needed someone just not quickly.

This week I was submitted on a Tuesday, NM was off Wed but would call me from home. Ok I hang all day. NO call. On Thursday I call my recruiter and he says she will call me on Thusday. Oh yeah she called at like 1930 . I didn't answer. Then he calls on Friday I tell him I'll call at 1630 when I get off work.. EST the job is in Memphis CST. I call and the NM is off on Friday..

So much for that interview. And ya know what my fee just went up. Just on principals.. And I might not even take the job. See I look at it this way. If they don't call me now they probably won't be that good to work for.

The unit I'm on now is the best assignment I've ever had. The NM called promptly and we worked out all the details with one phone call. I got my two 12's and 2 8's . Got my time off I wanted..

Good luck . Sometimes travel nursing can be a hit or miss proposition.

Most resumes go to the HR dept, or to who ever is their contact person at the facility. If that person is on vacation that week, or out sick, then it will sit on their desk, and this happens with any agency. Very rarely do they go straight to the manager of the unit. They are normally screened first.

Best thing is to have your recruiter just resubmit your documents again, remember that they are sent by e-mail or by fax, and we know what happens when you send something like that, it doesn't always get there.

Once the manager gets it, you usually hear right away.

And when is the start date for the contract that you want, two to three days out, or for next month? Unless it is for next week, they will take their time in many cases.

Specializes in ICU, ER.

I think that if you really want to travel with this company, stay with them. Otherwise, you could probably find another company to place you sooner.
