No-Question Job Interview:

Published

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I had an interview today, for a position I am incredibly interested in. (I fell in love with the facility, the nursing program, the people, all of it.)

However, the nurse manager I met with didn't ask me any questions - she gave me such a wonderful explanation of the facility and how things worked and all, which was amazing, but I didn't know how to feel about the fact that I wasn't really asked anything.

Any thoughts? Opinions?

Well an interview is more like a conversation than an interogation. Did you ask questions? Sometimes they judge you more on the questions you ask rather than the questions answered

I asked as many questions as I could! She had answered every question I had written down beforehand as she was explaining things to me - which I mentioned, then had her clarify a few points. Honestly, I was hardly able to get a word in edge-wise! Now I'm really nervous that I didn't seem to want the job or seem interested enough, but I didn't want to interrupt her or ask something unrelevant to what she was saying, either.

Did you meet with HR before the nurse manager? Maybe all her questions were already answered :)...good luck!

Nope, just the nurse manager. I had filled out an online application, so the receptionist asked me to fill out a paper copy, then I went with the nurse manager. It was nice - we walked around and she showed me around the facility, but I don't know. Mrrr.

Specializes in interested in NICU!!.

what position is it?

I am also very curious. Is it a hospital or LTC? Did you drop by or had someone called you to come in. Great job if you did a walkin and were able to meet with the nurse manager. :)

Good luck! Some interviews are like this, and some are more traditional. I think 1 of the previous posters was correct in that many times they want to see what questions you have. Let us know if you hear anything back

Consider yourself lucky, I guess! :) I had an interview today, too.

I hope we both get the job!!

OMG! Are we talking about the same place I had the exact same type of interview. I actually enjoyed this type of interview I felt I was more able to be myself. I filled out the application on line then called to check on the status. The nurse managed called me back to schedule a interview went in to fill out a paper application. She showed me around gave me the run down of the beautiful facility I might add. She was really sweet. I have never had an interview where I walked out and my armpits where dry LOL. I feel like this was weird but who cares I got the job the lord said don't ask no questions. Sometimes, you have to take things as a blessing and run with it. I hope that all works out I got the job which is good being that it's really hard for a new grad and the pay is pretty good 17.50 to start and that's not including night differentials or weekend differentials. Good luck hope you get the job. Take care

what position is it?

it's a rn position. i'm a new grad, so i was thrilled to get a call back from somewhere, finally! and even more so because the facility seems and sounds amazing.

i am also very curious. is it a hospital or ltc? did you drop by or had someone called you to come in.

it's for a children's home. i originally applied online, then received a call from the nurse manager, who wanted to set up a meeting/interview.

consider yourself lucky, i guess! :) i had an interview today, too.

i prepped for potential questions all last night, too! i felt ready for anything! lol. congrats! i hope you get it!

I had a similar interview a few months ago! I asked as many questions as possible, but the woman interviewing me ended up asking only a couple questions, and it was a pretty relaxed setting for an interview... and I was offered the job! Don't worry-- I would say that her lack of questions doesn't mean anything bad. Some people just end up talking TO you the whole time. Good luck!
