Hello all,
I have almost five years prior service and will be enrolled into a BSN program this fall semester. I wish to receive the STRAP program to pay for this education.
My question is in regard to joining the Army National Guard or Air National Guard as an ADN graduate nurse in the PA/DE/NJ area. I have been in contact with recruiters from both branches from all three states. There are no single opening as I was told in either branch.
Is it possible to be put on a waiting list (I was told no by each recruiter) so that when positions are available I'll receive a phone call? Thanks in advance. . .

you might want to try the reserves, I did, the reserves is federal and the guard's are coming from state funds. federal has more money than state.

Also the reserves is more medical/support then the guard which is more combat arms.
Can I use the STRAP while in the Reserves?
UPDATE:
I spoke with an Army Reserve recruiter this morning and was told I could apply for the STRAP program but would not be eligible for the accession bonus of $5,000 per year up to three years on top of STRAP.
Any truth to this?

I don't think it is possible to get the STRAP and Bonus. You can get the STRAP and Loan repayment which turns out to be more money anyway.
