NNAS experience?

World Registration

Published

Does anybody have any experience with NNAS? So far, I've read the site but it would be great to hear from people who have gone through the process :)

Hello.

I have started this NNAS process and, am in the process of updating and downloading the relevant forms.

When I created my profile (payment done two months ago), I had one current and one previous registration from my home country. However, in the meantime I had to transfer my registration to another state within my home country. The problem now I am facing is that i am unable to convert my 2nd registration as previous registration.

So, basically I have one current registration and two previous, but my NNAS profile reads one previous registration and two current registration.

Can anybody help me how to sort it out? Is it possible to delete the registration details because I surely see an option to add previous registration.

Please reply.

If you have not submitted all the documents yet ,you can call NNAS and they will make changes for you.

i see.

well, thank you for the reply.

Ha Ha, I have went through the IENCAP, and NCLEX-RN now. I have no chance to speak my first language during the lunch hour, coz I was the only candidate speak Cantonese (I came from Hong Kong). May or may not be assessed the language skills during that day, I did speak to everyone in English for sure! and finally, I really passed it !

This is an update on our NNAS process (US nurse, BSN, 9yrs. experience) After nearly 10 months of waiting, my partner FINALLY got her NNAS advisory report & it came back "comparable". Now we move on to getting her license in Nova Scotia. As NNAS took SO LONG, we'll have to wait until after winter to move, but I consider us lucky after reading the hell many on this site have gone/are going through. Good luck everyone!! Hang in there!

Congratulations!

I think the reason it took so long is that they were aware NNAS was flawed and thus not finding those who they know should be "comparable" comparable. Almost every US applicant in the beginning (including myself) got "non-comparable" and pretty much freaked out over it, calling NNAS and our regulatory bodies and questioning them over how they can let this go on knowing it's wrong. They finally made some changes to NNAS so that it's not finding absolutely everyone "non-comparable", so they were probably waiting until those changes were made to avoid yet another applicant filing a complaint etc. I've noticed that almost all US educated applicants have been found "comparable" since Sept 2016 when they acknowledged the problem. Anyway, the point is, I think those applying after Sept 2016 who are US educated have the advantage of not being the first through the process and thus tweaks have been made to make it a bit more fair. Sucks for us who applied in the beginning and had to go through so much stress and testing/additional financial expenses to do so but the main thing is that things have changed and I am glad about that for those now and in the future.

Can I ask, which school did your partner get her degree from in the US?

I'm so sorry you had to go through all that, just the 9 mo. wait made us so angry, I can't imagine. She went from a CNA to an LPN, to an RN, then a BSN, so she started at a community college, then Nebraska Wesleyan for the BSN. Plus, she's take many certifications since then for trauma nursing. Good luck with everything, Canada REALLY needs to fix this, because I KNOW there's a nursing shortage, especially in rural areas! Makes no sense to put nurses through all this!

You guys are still lucky in the end got through with nnas! There has been 14 months since i started my appli with nnas, till today,i have not even get my final report from nnas. The reason is that one of my nursing shool never receive the posted letter from nnas., i submitted all document nnas required but nnas need to verify those docu with my school, thats is the only shcool has not verified with...after 14 month i am still waiting for nothing....please, is anyone here encountered same problem as mine? Can we ask Nnas to waive that part of school education? I would rather erase that part nursing edu even i feel heartpain... please please share with me any other way to proceed my case in nnas? Appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

@Sky19

There have been a few people who have said NNAS states they did not receive a reply from their school, yet when they call the school, the school states that they did not even receive a request for verification/documents. You're going to have to figure out which is correct: is the school lying that they did not receive it or is NNAS saying they sent it but lost it? Call NNAS customer service and ask to talk to a manager. It's the only way to get anywhere. Ask if you can deliver the documents/request to your school and have the school send their response directly back to NNAS.

They won't waive anything, so that won't be an option.

Thanks so much RN_Pro! I really really appreciate your reply. Acturally i phoned them and they told me which add and email they sent to but when i checked with my school teachers that they did not receive any letter, i guess the school is too big , and my teachers did not know english at all and somehow the letter just disppeared....Sure, i will ask nnas if they allow me to deliver the request/letter to my school..Acturally, i really hope nnas can waive that part edu, i dont even want to spend all my energy and time to ask back and forth in the end get nothing from both of them. I just do hope nnas can do waive thing! wondering whats the outcome to those who have similar experiences with mine......Thanks anyone who can reply ...

Hello @parasol

I am just about ready to start preparing for my CBA and SLA. I totally understand that you have signed a confidentiality agreement so do not want any hints. Though out of what you had studied before you went for the exams/scenarios- what do you think helped the most and what would you most definately suggest? Thank you for your help :)
