2017 NMC UK Decision Letter

Published

Hi Guys,

I found an old thread from 2016 but wanted to start anew so we don't have to filter through 20+ pages. I submitted my application in June and it was placed on the queue on June 21. I am still anxiously waiting for my decision letter. My 40 working days is on the 16 August. Is there anyone else that submitted this at about the same time as me that's waiting to hear back?

Also - anyone have issues with clinical practice hours in university from the US? I was short by 25 hospital hours, but I did 187 hours volunteering at a hospital while I was in school. They said to include that in my transcript of training, that it should be ok but it would still need to be assessed like everything else, which leads me to believe it should be fine, albeit still so terrified! I have my family and my boyfriend waiting on me to get there and I can't wait any longer!!

Just updating every wonderful person here that has given me hope and helped with my nerves.

I got my decision letter today!!

Let me tell you the entire process, so it can hopefully help others going through this:

10th of April: CBT exam

12th of April: CBT results passed

25th of May: All docs received by NMC and day 1 of queue

6th of July: First feedback given for re-submission of documents

16th of July: Re-submitted docs sent and re-entered queue

26th of July: Further feedback to upload an edited version of a declaration, which I did immediately.

5 minutes after submitting, DL was given!!

So yes, it is tough.. and can be so disheartening. But you really will get there. I was so close to giving up. But it really will be okay. Good luck all~

I hope someone can help me figure out on what to do. I just received an email from my assessor saying that she would like references who are actually my senior nurse. I submitted 2 referees who are actually senior to me but they have the same title of "staff nurse" like mine. So NMC might have thought that we are just of the same level. I could not get hold of my supervisor as she has long been gone from that hospital. My only hope now are those two staff nurses I submitted.

Does anybody here relate with me? Isn't it there are really nurses who assume the role of a "senior nurse", although they are just called staff nurse. I hope someone can suggest on what to do, I feel this is the only hindrance from me finally getting the decision letter.

The assessor also told me I can either have them write an attestation that they are indeed my senior nurses or have them complete another form showing a different job position higher than that of just a "staff nurse".

Do I just have them resubmit the forms and put in the job position "senior nurse" or "charge nurse". Please help.

Thank you!

Hi there~

What I would suggest is to do 2 things.

1. Get both nurses to write a declaration explaining their position and that although they are 'staff nurses' they are indeed senior to you and have the qualifications to be your references. Get them to sign and stamp this.

2. As you mentioned, get both to refill the reference forms and replace 'staff nurse' with whatever they deem fit/what they call themselves in the declaration they would be writing as well. Get these signed and stamped again.

Re-submit those documents to the NMC. As long as they have proof that your 2 references are indeed senior to you, and have supervised your work during your employment with them.. they will be happy.

I hope this helps! Good luck to you~

Hi it was my problem as well before. I tried to call nmc regarding it and they said i can just ask our hr head to serve as my referee. It was the last option that they gave to me but then i have decided to secure one of our supervisor as my referee. nmc accepted it even if i just work with her for 2 years only.

So, you can just try to call nmc and maybe they can also accept your hr head as a referee.

Hey dear, you need not to get worried. You will definitely get your dl if you've met all their requirements.

Let me share my timeline

Passed IELTS september 6 2017

Sat for CBT novemeber 2, 2017

Submitted all my documents and got on the queue march 30.Getting the required docs takes a very long time in my country.

Got a feedback on 10th of may after 41 calendar days to resubmit some documents

Submitted the documents and i was waiting for dl. Liittle did i know i wasnt back on the queue until i called them. They told me what to do as one other requirement had not been met. Eventually got back on the queue on the 13th of july, i got my dl on the 18th of july.. Long wait! You would agree with me . I kept on being positive. The waiting and resubmissions were energy sapping and very costly though.

hi! if I may ask, what where the documents they asked you to resubmit? im just curious on what are the reasons of resubmissions of docs. anyway,i am still waiting for my DL.

Is there anyone know what happened to the NMC protal? Today I logged in my NMC portal and I could not view my application details anymore as the submitted bottom disappeared on the tab..Does it mean my application is under assessed? lol

Thanks

have you click the submit button before? if yes, then it would automatically disappear and "read only" will appear which means you can't change anything in your submitted forms. if you haven't clicked it yet, maybe you just have to refresh your browser or log in again after few hours. i've heard there are glitches in their portal sometimes. you also have to recheck, maybe you already got your DL.

Before you open your application, it will tell you if it has been submitted or if you're still in the process. Do you remember clicking the submit button? If so, then your application becomes 'READ ONLY'. You may want to call NMC to double check though. You will only enter the assessment queue once all your physical documents have reached them and they have scanned them all in.

.Hi! I just want to ask how will I determine if my application is already on queue? Thank You.

Once all physical documents have arrived at the NMC and have been scanned through. The date this happens is day 1 of being in queue. You can always call to double check as well so nothing is missing.

You must be so excited! You're leaving in a week. That's awesome~ I'm still waiting for my visa but I should be arriving in London on the 7th of September.

I'm going to Royal Brompton which is actually really close to Chelsea and Westminster. Best of luck to us with the upcoming OSCEs!
