2017 NMC UK Decision Letter

World Registration

Published

Hi Guys,

I found an old thread from 2016 but wanted to start anew so we don't have to filter through 20+ pages. I submitted my application in June and it was placed on the queue on June 21. I am still anxiously waiting for my decision letter. My 40 working days is on the 16 August. Is there anyone else that submitted this at about the same time as me that's waiting to hear back?

Also - anyone have issues with clinical practice hours in university from the US? I was short by 25 hospital hours, but I did 187 hours volunteering at a hospital while I was in school. They said to include that in my transcript of training, that it should be ok but it would still need to be assessed like everything else, which leads me to believe it should be fine, albeit still so terrified! I have my family and my boyfriend waiting on me to get there and I can't wait any longer!!

Hi, guys!

I just got my DL earlier. It was rally a relief since I thought they were going to ask me for the theoretical breakdown in hours which my school failed to include in the mail. Good thing they did not. Anyways, here's my timeline:

March: Pased IELTS

July: Got accepted by NHS Trust in Prescot

September: Passed CBT

October 30: Completed al the documents, got on que.

December 22: Asked to upload CV

January 2: Asked for Declaration for the gaps i employment (My fault for giving the wrong dates?

January 11: DL.

So I hope this helps! Keep the faith!

May I ask if you received an email from NMC to upload your CV and declaration of gaps..and how did you upload it? I'm anticipating that this will also be my case bec I graduated in 2009 but only practiced nursing last 2016. Thank you so much!!

My wife finally got her decision letter. We were really traumatized and discouraged of the delays but indeed, everything will just fall into its place.

Timeline:

June 2017: Passed the IELTS exam

September 2017: Passed the CBT exam

October 17, 2017: NMC received all her docs and the last date recorded on her portal.

She worked as a nurse in Abu Dhabi, UAE. We asked a copy of her Certifcate of Good Standing but sadly, Health Authority of Abu Dhabi will not give one since her license with them is expired. We just wrote a letter explaining why she didn't have that certificate and attached the copy of her exit visa in United Arab Emirates and uploaded it on the portal.

Believing that someone from Nursing and Midwifery Council would contact us if they would see that we lack docs once they assessed it, we were in high spirits that we can get the Decision letter by first week of December.

Dec 16 2017: 60 calendar days. No response from Nursing and Midwifery Council

Dec 22, 2017: We called Nursing and Midwifery Council to find out that her application was still not placed on the assessment queue. We were really upset because no feedback or email from them. The reason was that, they required us of the cert of good standing from Abu Dhabi. Tried requesting it again with HAAD thru their online facility and finally, they released a copy to us.

Dec 27, 2017: Forwarded the copy of certificate of good standing to the Nursing and Midwifery Council

Jan 2, 2017: Called Nursing and Midwifery Council for follow up. They retrieved the email I sent to them and attached it with a black form and uploaded it to the portal. They told us that my wife will be placed on the assessment queue and will wait for another 30-60 days.

January 3: called Nursing and Midwifery Council again and contested her case. We were to talk to someone and told her that she should be in United Kingdom by last week of January. They asked a document or proof regarding that from my employer.

January 4: Received the doc that we requested from her Agency, Omanfil. We emailed it to Nursing and Midwifery Council

January 8: Called Nursing and Midwifery Council again. They told us that they received the letter and endorsed us to an assessor.

Apparently, an assessor emailed us but she was asking for additional documents:

*Original content of the email from the assessor.

1. Employment References: please obtain a letter from either of your referees, confirming your dates of employment. This is requested as both the references received were post-dated. This document must be provided on letter headed paper, sent as an original, and affixed behind a blank Employment Reference 1 or 2 form.

2. Police Clearances - please upload a new police clearance. This is requested as the document received was out of date upon receipt and must be uploaded within 3 months of the date of issue.

3. Employment History - please provide details of your employment. This is requested as there is a gap in employment. Please note, you must declare all registrations ever held regardless of its current status.

January 9, 2017- got the reference letter from her head nurse and sent it right away to the United Kingdom via courier. Also, we were able to obtain the police clearance and uploaded it to the portal. Same with the Curriculum Vitae

We informed the assessor that we already complied with the requirements and sent a copy to her for back up.

January 10- received a reply from the assessor and told me that she would just wait for the reference letter from the courier.

Jan 15- the document was received by the Nursing and Midwifery Council . Tried calling my assessor but she was not around when I verified it to Nursing and Midwifery Council. No response from her thru email.

Jan 16- called Nursing and Midwifery Council again, and told us that my assessor will upload my doc in the afternoon. We saw it being uploaded but no response from the assessor thru email.

Jan 17- called Nursing and Midwifery Council again. This time, we insisted in their hotline that we need the decision letter asap and we requested to speak to my assessor. My calls with them usually takes 30 minutes to 1 hour.

After talking to 2 persons on the hotline, they told us that her assessor will re-assess my wife's application within the week. But we insisted that we badly need the Decision Letter within the day. The person I spoke told us that the assessor will re-assess the application within the day.

10pm, Philippine time we received the Decision Letter(after 91 calendar days)

It was one of the most challenging moments to us as a couple. You really need to call Nursing and Midwifery Council from time to time because if not, you will just wait for months without knowing if they have checked your application. Calling to the United Kingdom was indeed expensive. After my first call with Nursing and Midwifery Council, my postpaid plan bill doubled. So I researched and I found an app called TalkU. Their rate calling to United Kingdom is just 1 peso per minute. It saved me money.

Next step would be waiting for the Certificate of Sponsorship. Her initial departure to United Kingdom is on the 26th of January, but because of the delay with my wife's Decision letter, her next schedule will be on March 30.

How long does CoS waiting should take place? I already got my decision letter since last December 1 and up until now i am still waiting for my Cos. ☹️ Do you think I should change trusts? Any advice?

The application for the COS is done every 5th of the month and is usually awarded 15 days later. You should follow up with your agency to pressure the hospital to apply for it ASAP.

You will receive an email from your assessor querying your information. You will upload it on the Identity section of your NMC portal together with your Birth Certificate.

Hi! May I know your agency? I am still currently waiting for my COS until now.

ASC in Makati

Hi! I just received a feedback today and my assessor requires me to upload full employment details under "additional ID." When I checked my portal, my application is still on a "read only" format. Hence, I am unable to upload my CV. What should I do about it? Please help. I am really anxious on this waiting game for the DL. Today is my 46th day in the queue.

You can email your assessor so they can open your portal. I think (i am not certain for I didn't have to go through this) you can also attach the documents in the email you will be sending so they can upload it for you.

I think this varies. Mine was submitted on the 18th and I got my COS 9th of the next month.

Hello guys.

I am on que on Nov 27 but until now I have not received any feedback from them/assessor. It is really frustrating. My documents submitted will expire soon also. The last email that I have was from NMC stating that the process will take longer than 60 days and they said sorry for the delay.

Remember, they are trying their best to process the DLs with in 40-60 WORKING DAYS (not calendar days). It will come, don't worry.

anybody here could help me with the step by step process for the VISA? THANKS in advance. =) bound to King's College here under Omanfil.

Specializes in Practice educator.

The Visa issue and decision letter is yet another reason why the NMC are such an incompetent organisation. Its mind boggling how cumbersome they are, we've had so many OSCE guys held back for months just waiting for arbitrary reasons or because the NMC chose not to accept something for no clear reasoning at all. The number of times we ring and they say 'oh we haven't got X yet' then we tell them you received it on so and so date and then they say oh yeah we did. Terrible.

The OMANFIL staff will help you arrange your papers with the separators. Make sure that you have a photocopy of all important documents for original documents given to VFS may not be returned. You have to bring the original documents when you apply for your visa tho so you can present it if they ask for the original papers. They will also give you instructions on what to bring - basically a pen and all your documents are the only things you need. They have lockers (with a fee) tho if you need one.

Dont forget to print your appointment/booking document and application form (and all receipts regarding the application) If you avail the premium lounge, priority processing, or any other additional services make sure that you print it too and give it to the person who initially assesses your papers. Ready all your passports (within the last 10 years) with you too.

It's a pretty quick process. It took me about 20 mins to finish the whole application.

Hope it goes smoothly for you!
