I received an email too a week or so back from Pearson saying I was authorised to resit from mid Jan even though my earliest resit date is actually this Monday?!? Then when I log in to the system the exam isn't there to be selected?!? What. Is. Going. On.

gen88 130 Posts Specializes in Surg- PACU/Anaes. Has 5 years experience. Dec 9, 2014 Oh great. Looks like they are stopping second attempts now as well. I've spoken to them yes but they basically have the view that it's "you not them" and that the questions are "designed to be ambiguous" to test your knowledge properly. I asked why then the fail rate is so high but they neglected to respond to this query
alfredpower, BSN, RN 64 Posts Has 8 years experience. Dec 9, 2014 So thats why we cant book another exam even if we hve rcved a second ATT. So what will be their next process? I hope they abolish it.
ari11990 37 Posts Dec 11, 2014 Just took it today and failed. I actually found it (content wise) WAY easier than the NCLEX, but whatever the critical questions are is ridiculous. It bothers me to know that I can a hundred percent competent and yet fail because of one question. Advice: study ALL NMC publications and don't waste your time on the blueprint.
foxtrotunicorns 52 Posts Dec 11, 2014 my test is scheduled for next wk.i'm planning to call NMC and the travel nurse company in UK to see if they've got any news...i guess it's positive to hear that they've reviewed a couple of exams although i'd like to know HOW these exams were considered for review...i've been studying the blueprint materials, nmc articles, and reviewing med/surg materials. from what i understand, i'll spend the rest of my time looking through NMC articles, code of conduct, medication mgmt, etc. is there anything in particular that was especially important?looking forward to hearing more news about it. i'll let you know how my test goes or if i hear any new information.
helmintched23 15 Posts Dec 11, 2014 Hello guys and gals... i just took the exam this morning 9am, finished it in 2hrs instead of 4 long ******* hours.then just tonight i checked my e-mail telling me I failed. Huhuhu it was so frustrating because I know I did good. Nwei may I ask if it was specify in your cbt the critical questions? Cuz in my end, it wasn't specified. Please give a reply to this asap.. thanks^^
alfredpower, BSN, RN 64 Posts Has 8 years experience. Dec 11, 2014 It didnt indcate what were critical Qs. Ano nobody i know, even here in the forum has passed
helmintched23 15 Posts Dec 11, 2014 So how can we even correct ourselves if that's the case? Omg.. this is a huge burden to everyone..
The Dude 9 35 Posts Specializes in Intensive Care - Pulmo. Has 3 years experience. Dec 11, 2014 Ahhh I'm taking my test next week, and I'm so nervous. Especially since reading this forum and seeing no one has passed. My recruiter in the UK told me that none of the nurses she knew had passed initially, but two were re-assessed and then passed by the NMC. I'm from the USA, I've taken the NCLEX and have used one of those question books to refresh content, and looked at the Code and some of the articles in the blueprint (which I find far too overwhelming!). Should I focus my last week of studyingon reading articles or refreshing good old nursing content? What do you guys suggest?Hi! i've just taken the test last DEC 10, and like everybody else failed.. my frustrations are the same with everyone else. what interests me is HOW did those two nurses get their exams reassessed?I agree, one or two people - failing, okay. But the majority of people failing, that's not a test taker problem ... That's a test problem.Their format is pretty bogus. if they wanted an all or nothing approach then just have an exam with only CRITICAL ITEMS. seeing as it doesn't matter how high we get our marks up all that matters is we get their sudden death items right. it's like they're saying that we aren't able to learn their policies vicariously.Oh great. Looks like they are stopping second attempts now as well. I've spoken to them yes but they basically have the view that it's "you not them" and that the questions are "designed to be ambiguous" to test your knowledge properly. I asked why then the fail rate is so high but they neglected to respond to this querythis is an even more infuriating part. i've decided to go all the way with my application to the UK. even after failing i'm still going through with it. that sad part is that i've turned so many other offers down for this one because my recruitment agency made me sign a commitment letter and they're doing a pretty lousy job of keeping things together.Hello guys and gals... i just took the exam this morning 9am, finished it in 2hrs instead of 4 long ******* hours.then just tonight i checked my e-mail telling me I failed. Huhuhu it was so frustrating because I know I did good. Nwei may I ask if it was specify in your cbt the critical questions? Cuz in my end, it wasn't specified. Please give a reply to this asap.. thanks^^i browsed through the candidate handbook and it didn't seem to say that they would indicate the critical questions. but after going through the exam personally and comparing it with other licensure exams (im also registered in the ksa) its on a level on its own.
ari11990 37 Posts Dec 11, 2014 Well I just found out from my recruiter that she heard of three people who have passed outright. She was gonna ask them for tips, so will let you all know once I've heard back. She also suggested that we all write emais to the NMC, maybe if enough of us email they can realize that there test is nearly impossible (I say nearly, because clearly those three people passed). This is the email she suggested overseas.enquiries@nmc-uk.orgi don't know how effective it will be, but it's worth a try! The two who were re-assessed weren't given any reason as to why, but where told within three days of sitting the exam.
helmintched23 15 Posts Dec 11, 2014 I am bothered how well i did...because I know I did well and I am from Sg, somehow we have similarities in practice because sg was once a british colony. .. damn so irritating.. i guess the 2 people who were re-assessed are not here in this forum right? And yes, let's all e-mail them...Btw guys did you also received a practice exam online? After informing me that I fail, no option to book another exam yet but they have given me att again, this time only one more chance... huhuhuand there's an online practice test available now. I guess its free.. and Im gonna try it within this wk...I know all of us can pass it, if they will just give us a genuine reference book... infact, i myself read and understand the test blue print, the code, other nmc links but the questions are not solely from there. Infact, not so much info are from these given references... I find the questions easy yet I failed. ;(
