Anybody here who took the Pearsons Vue NMC exam? How was it? TY!

can anyone please give me some tips to pass cbt test..? I already took the first one and I'm afraid to fail the second one..

can an I ask if most of the examines here past on their first time? Or mostly second..

Hello. Kindly browse through the earlier parts of this forum, the first half I guess. There you can find a lot of pointers for the CBT - book resources, actual questions, and even examiner's personal experiences with the test. The later part of this convo mostly talks about the assessment phase, decision letter, and OSCE. There are a few about the CBT, but it's mostly on the first half.

Don't lose hope. Everyone here passed on the second take if not on the first. I haven't heard about someone who failed on the second attempt. The exam is basically easy. If you answer the questions on the premise of not hurting your patients or putting them at risk, then I'm sure you'll make it. Just relax, take a deep breath, and most of all pray.

Hi guys!

Just an update. It's been over a month since I last checked this forum.

I'm glad to say I got my DL last Sept. 18th at 9PM - kinda early by my count - so I was pretty stoked. Only 54 days! :D

But after telling my agency the good news, they said (after two weeks, mind you) that I cannot push forward to the COS queue because of the UKVI IELTS. I had previously taken the regular IELTS Academic last Oct 2014 and applied with that. Now I learned that even if the IELTS is good till November 5th, the trust cannot process my COS unless I take the UKVI IELTS one. They want us to take it this month. -_-"

Which brings me to this quote by @rachel15 I was shocked to find that you need 7 in all categories for it?

My agency told me to just take it without reviewing since they only need a 4.5.

Can anyone shed some light on this? What is really needed for the UKVI IELTS Academic? 4.5 or 7 in all?

She was talking about getting all 7 so that she can get through the initial application for NMC.

My trust was also mentioned in the previous linked article by BBC regarding nursing shortages. I'm proud my trust is taking a stand for it. With how UK is now, they're actually facing a grimmer and colder winter if they don't change their numbers.

Btw, just for clarification, what is the point system you guys are talking about for COS? That's following the 20,700 COS/year count? Please enlighten me :)

It's basically a criteria for the Restricted CoS category since all the annually allotted CoS for oversees employees have already been expended and only those occupations that are listed officially as having shortages are given priority and exemption. Everything else needs to meet those points to be given RCoS. In an inexplicable twist of irony, nurses are not in the official list of having shortage of manpower (whereas ballerina is).

Somebody here posted a more detailed look at how the points are determined (I think it was johnnnius). You may want to read it.

I got my dl last oct 1 and still awaiting cos.. Do you guys think it will take long for the cos?

Got my DL today wooooahhh!!! I was put on queue last Aug. 4 then received an email asking for other documents on the 30th September. Documents sent on the 1st then DL today 9th.. Thanks God for that..

Hello everyone. I am having difficulties with some of the review materials. For example, in domain 1 comp. 1, one of the items there says refer to CCC4.5. When I checked The Code, there wasnt even 4.5. Then, there are instances that the items in the domains do not match what the topics are all about. Like, work within legal frameworks when seeking consent in the blueprint about CCC8.5 . Only to find out that it is about working with colleagues in The Code. How do i deal with these? Is it advisable to read all the links? There are acronyms that are unfamiliar. What does OAC, MM, NFM, and IPC mean?Thanks in advance to those who will help me. And congrats to all who passed.

Hi.

I think those abbreviated words (ie CCC, OAC, MM, NFM, IPC) refers to the essential skill clusters namely:

• Care, Compassion, Communication

• Organizational aspects of care

• Medicines managament

• Nutrition and fluid mgt

• Infection prevention control

You can google it just to make sure. Hope it helps.
