Hello Sir Mike... I have now my own account here... Omanfil/UCLH told me to wait for my COS to be approved... hoping and praying we will have it on October...
I transferred agency because I didn't feel ASC's support when I failed my first CBT attempt. I was interviewed last November 2014. Finally, after my second try, I was able to get a 'Pass' remark and applied in Omanfil. It was a tough interview(theory)/practicals (application) last April 24, but the guys from UCLH did so for them to gauge if we can take the OSCE in one go. Was supposed to be here in UK last July but had a problem with my visa application. Well, September ain't that bad eh? Everything's surreal still and we'll start with the OSCE prep by Monday. Will let you know about our review. Wishing you the best @mcqueen92!
Hi Petrick, RN
I will start my OSCE training this Monday as well :) I am anxious about this and will be taking the test on the 19th. Can I have your email? Mine is [email protected]
Thank you and God bless on your test!
Hi guys! :) I took the ukvi ielts last aug. 29 and unfortunately, I failed in the speaking subtest. I got a 6.5, the rest were amazing though and my obs was 7.5. However, no matter how high my other subtests were, the nmc will not accept it, so I feel devastated.
I'm planning to retake the exam this november . Any tips on speaking?

I'm very sorry to hear that. I wish you luck on your next take.
It really pays to practice (especially if you want to get rid of a difficult accent), but I think reading and watching informative programs and news help more. If you read, you expand upon your general knowledge base and you can then talk about more things with the interviewer. You watch news and documentaries and you soak up information and become more aware of the events going on around you, and more importantly form views and opinions about them, which you can then freely share with your interviewer. I'm not even a really good speaker and I get nervous when talking to strangers and in public, yet I got an 8 back when I took the test. I just told my interviewer what was on my mind, right and wrong notwithstanding.
Also, just remember the important stuff. Eye contact, first and foremost, is very important. Try to minimize the umms and the errs. If you commit them, try to make it look like you're thinking. Avoid prolonged periods of silence. Your affect must match the mood of whatever it is you're talking about. If you didn't understand what the interviewer said, politely ask them to repeat what they said. Most importantly, speak clearly. You don't have to be very fluent or too grammar-conscious; this is speaking, not writing. What's crucial is that they understand what you are saying when they playback the audio recording. You can try to record yourself speaking to see if you can hear and understand yourself clearly. You may think your words are clear when you speak them, but then they turn out muffled or incomprehensible when played back.
Some people say vocabulary is important, but I think what's more important is how to use your vocabulary, no matter how limited, in creative ways to keep the conversation fresh.
Again, good luck on your exam and God bless. You'll surely be the next in line to have your dream to work in the UK fulfilled.
Hi
I am getting kind of paranoid with the statement atop the table of documents that I submitted to the NMC which says:
More information required - feedback
I've read from a previous post that this is not something to worry about if you have received a confirmation email that all your documents were already received. As in my case, I have yet to receive such email confirmation despite seeing from my NMC application page that they were already noted as received. Anyone here who is also waiting for your DL? I am kindly asking you to check if the note that I pasted above is also present in your account and is just a default notice, or it's really a notification that they will be requiring additional documents from me.
I am also worrying that despite receiving the documents and tagging it as "received", they really don't put it immediately in the assessment queue, or they do?
Thank you
