NMC CBT prep, some advice please.

Published

Hi everyone!

I just joined the site hoping I could get advice from all of you who are yearning to work in the UK.

I am currently in Kuwait. As soon as I passed my IELTS UKVI on June 18, 2016, i applied thru workabroad.com for employment to UK. Luckily loads of agencies responded but Omanfil was the fastest to accommodate me. They arranged Skype interview with KCH and fortunately nailed it. I got my offer letter and now I am due to take my CBT on September 8 2016. Anyone here can advice what to revise? How long will it take to be deployed to the UK after CBT? Coz i dont wanna resign from my job now thinkin it might take 6 mos or more to process all the documentations for visa and all... I'm a bread winner and I can't afford to be stucked for a long time.

Hoping to hear from you guys...

I booked for my second attempt this May. Hopefully, all goes well on that date. Looking forward to that PASS mark on my Pearson VUE account. I was formerly assigned in the general nursing unit and had some rotations in the ED and ICU departments before being promoted to a nursing admin position. I am not from the US by the way. I am from the Philippines.

The test is quite tricky. It gives you that "easy as pie" vibe while you're going though the questions. Honestly, our local board examination here in the Philippines and the US NCLEX-RN questions I have encountered while reviewing way back when I was still a student were definitely harder. You just always have to ask yourself while going through the test. Is my answer based on NMC's The Code? Priotise patient/people. Practise Effectively. Prioritise safety. Promote professionalism.

Hope this helps. But if there is anything I can help you with, feel free to ask. I guess we have a similar application process since we're both educated and trained outside of the EU/EEA.

Hi guys I reviewed well. Really, When I had to process my passport, I was reviewing while in queue. While I had a vacation in Malaysia, I took my reviewer with me. I sleep with my laptop on and wake up next day reading again. Alas I took the exam last March 21 and guess what FAILED!

I was literally balling out when I was in the bus station. My hopes were high that morning but then came home with a heavy heart.

Now I considering just going to Ireland instead.

Hey there Carlo. I took mine March 14 and failed. I felt bad for 3 days. I reviewed for more than two months and even resigned from my jib to prepare. That was like more than 4hrs of reading and analyzing daily. Dont give up man. It is tough for us. But you still have one more attempt vefore your ATT expires. Give it another go. This time, reflect on the tough questions or should I say tricky questions you can remember. As of writing, I am preparing for my 2nd attempt with NMC's CBT. NEVER SAY DIE brother.

Thank you for the message! I took my exam last March 21, it's 24 and I can say I have gone the grieving process already. I also took my first step in applying a license in IRELAND instead as a safety net but I will start my review again tomorrow. I will take the second try and see how it goes but this time I will come prepared.

As much as I want to prepare for Ireland NMBI, I cannot at the moment because of financial constraints. I'll take my CBT first then apply for a temporary job si I can save up for NMBI. But looking forward to a pass mark. I've been pouring lots of time and energy with NMC's CBT.

Hi, I failed my first CBT exam last week and felt so discouraged because the policy questions were a bit tricky for me. Was wondering for those who took it the second time... any advice? Was the retake topics similar to the first exam you took?

Hi. If you can still remember your questions maybe we can discuss what went wrong and the possible answers

That'd be great. My email is [email protected]

I think that's more important, it's as long as we pass the CBT and OSCE.

Actually, I passed an interview conducted by Colchester Hospital, however, I am not really sure if I will push through with my application with them. I am

caught up with the dilemma of whether to work at London or in a hospital away from the center.

Hi @em30 i also passed an interview by colchester gen hosp and currently reviewing for cbt which i will this this July. May i ask if you pushed thru your application with the hospital and what part are you in now on your application?

This is what helped me to pass the exam earlier this year. Highly recommended because the practice questions can effectively gauge your readiness. :)
