NLN Worries/RN Entrance Timeline

U.S.A. New Hampshire

i have looked at what the nln may have for questions and frankly i am nervous. algebra has always been difficult for me, and physics questions? never seen em! anatomy would also be difficult as i am not taking that until this summer and fall!

i am taking psych and intro to chem right now (never took chem in hs) and the admissions office suggested i take the nln this april...like in 3 months. but the only classes i will have are psych and chem. i have been through college once, and have an associates degree but i do not think that will help me since it was a few years ago that i graduated. i have never been good in math or science. i am petrified i will do badly. when i took the sat's i bombed..

i am hoping to take a&p 1 this summer, a&p 2 this fall, and micro spring of 09... and applying for entrance o the rn program for fall of 09 at nhctc-berlin

the admissions guy i talked to said they admit students to the rn program as early as october for the following fall semester. but i won't have all of my pre-req's done until at least the end of spring 09 so i am worried i won't have enough time to apply since from what i gathered, i would have to apply by this fall for the following fall. thankfully i only have these 5 courses to take, then all of the rn classes.

....but yay for me, i am enrolled in 2 classes and start soon!:w00t:

any insight?

I would suggest getting an NLN pre-entrance exam study guide. This will give you examples of test questions as well as strategies for how to study. I haven't taken the test, so others here might be better at telling you how much focus was placed on different areas, but I think that if you start studying and figuring out some test-taking strategies now you could be set to go by April.

HI, I just recently took the NLN (Nov 07) for the second time to improve my score. I'm okay at math but slow and you can't use a calculator so that hurt me the first time. Try practicing doing problems without one. I found that the vast majority of the math problems (like 80%) were percentage problems so really brush up on those. One problem I remember was something like: If a rack of clothes was marked down 30% of the original price of $ and the next week they were marked down another 15% then what was the final sale price?

The first time I took the test I had only taken hs biology but there were a lot of electrical questions in the science section. I guessed on a lot of the science questions and left a lot of math questions unanswered due to time and I passed with a good score. I have since taken hs Chemistry and I still had to guess on a lot of the science questions! Your best bet is getting a study guide but I just wanted to reassure you that you can do it even if math is hard for you.

My first response to that ? would be take 45% off of the original price??! I am hoping being in chemistry helps because the NLN will be taken a month before the class ends.......... that and psychology!

I hope I can do well.. if not so well I can retake in 6 months, right? I won't be applying for the RN program until next December/January for the Fall 2009 program..

I would think that you'd take 30% off the original price...and then 15% off the sale price...Otherwise, you get a difference answer then if you were to take 45% off the original price.
