NLN Scores for Oakton Community College - Fall 2010

Published

My application is complete for Fall 2010 at Oakton Community College. I am freaked out  right now as I don't know if I have good enough NLN scores to get in. Does anyone know what a "good enough" score is? The minimum required is a composite of 60, and 50 on the verbal. From what I've heard, people are scoring in the 90's (with 99 being a perfect score per a nursing advisor...). My composite is an 89 and my verbal is 97 :uhoh3:. Anyone know if this is good/bad/ugly? In other words, do you think I have a chance of getting accepted.....or not???

Thanks!!

Thanks for the clarification! That's too bad about your classmate. The girl in my class has all the prerequisites completed, except she didn't too well on the verbal portion. She's a bit discouraged which is understandable....

I keep picturing a big envelope in the mailbox, so that's good that you clarified we "may" get a regular sized envelope. No matter what, I know I will panic once I see the Oakton logo!! I'm sure you're experiencing the same fears/excitement I am. I just wish this uncertainty can be clarified soon!!! Let's hope we hear something tomorrow or Monday at the latest......

Take care and good luck!!!

NOPE nothing arrived today either..... maybe Monday or Tuesday the latest.

Ok I want to give all an update. I just found out from one of my classmates how the envelope looks like because she has just received her letter. I didn't receive mines yet I dont know about you guys but let me just let you know just in case. The envelope is large brown with numerous forms per my classmate. Ohhh now I am super nervous, wat is going on???? Let me know if you guys received anything yet!

Yes, I received my letter today, and I'm happy to say I've been accepted to the program! The letter came in a manila envelope with a bunch of other papers just like your friend described. I have not gone through it all as I was on my way out when the mail arrived. I got really excited and started making phone calls to the people that have been supporting me throughout this whole process (sister, brothers, my mum who is on vacation in FL, friends, etc. etc.)

Gosh, I'm so sorry you haven't gotten your letter yet!! I am praying for you guys and I hope, hope, hope we will all be classmates!!! I really appreciate your support this past month and putting up with my all my questions, fears, and so on. Only those of us who are going through this waiting time understand how we really feel!! Everyone else is supportive of course, but only when you're in the thick of it, do you REALLY know.....

Please let me know as soon as you hear something. Monday should be the day!!! GOOD LUCK!!!! :redbeathe

Congrats! I didn't get my letter yet. At least your worries are over-Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations Pandorasbox!!!! I am sooo nervous b/c I still havent received mines yet??? Does that mean something is wrong??? Gosh I am sooooo overwhelmed right now its not even funny. Well hopefully i'll get something on Monday>>> Did your letter say by any chance what were the cut off? Sorry for all my questions but I am still on that "waiting boat" :( :crying2: Sully hopefully we'll be alright!

I don't think there is anything wrong I just think we have slow mail service. I don't know what suburb she is in but maybe it is Des Plaines which would arrive quicker. We will just have to say a prayer and wait one more day. So it is a manilla envelope we are looking for? If I don't see it Monday, I am going to be so sad!

You are so right sully100, I'm assuming you also live in Skokie and that must be why we haven't received anything yet. It's just that this wait time is really getting to me. I immediately jumped to conclusions and my mind just went off, hahahaha. I'll be really sad also if I don't get the Manila envelope but I wont give up on my future career. Good luck sully100 I hope we both get in this fall. I'll post as soon as I find out on Monday... **fingers crossed**:)

The mail system is crazy these days so please do not think there is something wrong. I live in Morton Grove. My mother and I both have statements come out of the same place, with the same exact due date. From the beginning (years now.....) we have always gotten our statements the very same day. Starting this January, we are getting the statements on totally different days!!! In February we received them 2 weeks apart!!!!

Yes, it is a manila envelope (8 1/2" x 12"). There's various papers included. Letter, important dates, nursing confirmation letter, schedule of classes, health papers, etc.

It DOES NOT give any indication of the # of applicants, cut-off scores, or anything like that. I wonder if they'll even tell us later on??? I am sooooooo hoping both of you get in. It's about time we meet!!! :lol2:

Here's to GOOD NEWS on Monday!! :redpinkhe

ps- I just took a look at the envelope. It is postmarked 03/25. The letter inside is dated 03/23.

Thanks for all the information! We will just have to wait until Monday. I guess we are looking for the big envelope. You are so lucky that you know-the wait is a killer. We are very happy for you!

Thanks for the info Pandorasbox and once again Congratulations on your accomplishment. I want this way time to be over with but I know that by tomorrow we should have a response. So since that envelope is big then it probably doesn't fit in the mailbox, is that correct? Mines is very narrow so who knows, the good thing is that we know they went to the 80s so hopefully the went into the lower 80s as well. Well see, thanks once again and I'll post as soon as I know something.

pandorasbox,

Congratulations on your acceptance! Can I ask though what your scores on the NLN PAX were? Just wanted to know what your % was by category so I have some kind of idea. My practice scores have been mid 80s for the most part with a little higher for the science and verbal. Any info would be sooo appreciated. Thank you and good luck everybody else!
