Hi everyone - I am considering applying for the Jersey City NJCU ABSN program starting in 2020. Has anyone submitted their application?
Oh okay. That sounds annoying. I did find in the HESI that there were some questions they asked that totally were not in the Elsevier study guide at all. I was like what the heck is this. Like there were a couple of vocabulary words that were not in the book at all. But the HESI overall was not bad at all.
BFA! Nice! It sounds fun and physically challenging. Yea NJCU is 12 months. It's super fast. I feel like it's going to be very challenging. I was just reading that there are no breaks between semesters. I think we will have at least 1 or 2 days off per week to study though? I don't know. I am like very unsure as to how the schedule will be.
Do you plan on working like one day a week during these programs? I am toying with the idea of working one day per week, but I don't know. That might change once I get accepted and I am in the thick of it.
So I won’t be working at all. I think with the kiddo in the mix, I’ll be spending every minute of free time studying LOL I know it’s not recommended, but I have friends who did ABSNs and babysat, bartended once a week ect. If you have to, you have to. And if it’s too much, you’ll quit ya know?
@BSSBI would say 500 words is an acceptable happy medium. My essay was 700 words.
@Tsal Yea we'll have to do what works for us!
@MegNoonsOoh I really hope it's mid-March. Where did you read that? I feel like the financial aid portion will take a bit of time so I am just like I hope it's sooner rather than later so we have time to work out the financial portion.
Do you guys know if they give any need-based or merit scholarships?

@otgd8 So, the TEAS was more challenging just in that the questions were trickier. The TEAS has four sections: reading, grammar, science and math. I don't know what to say other than the content and delivery is less straight forward. Two answers were wrong and two that could be correct. Yes, the allowed a calculator just like HESI- basic and encrypted into the test.
Like you, I am hesitant with a larger program and prefer smaller. My undergrad, I earned a Bachelors in Fine Arts in Dance so this is a huge change for me! I understand wanting to do something you ENJOY, especially out of the gate at 18. It was about 100 years ago for me though. LOL I checked out Saint Peters, they keep the new ABSN program very small which I love but the program is slightly longer than NJCU and I have a 2 year old, so ideally, I'd like to start ASAP and prefer a faster pace. Three months isn't much longer tho in the end. I'm eager to find out where I do/don't get in so I can keep moving forward! The waiting game sucks.
