NJCU ABSN program review?

Published

Hi,

I want to apply to NJCU accelerated nursing program but I have a few questions. Does anyone know if it's competitive to get in? what's the HESI grade requirement? How's the program overall? Are they organized? I attended a nursing program but did not like that school. They were very unorganized and during my interview, the guy told me that I would fail. Ever since, I am nervous to apply to schools because I don't know how the faculty would be. You can also add anything you like that would be helpful to me!

Thank you so much!

The program is competitive. I was wait listed twice... They accept about 30 people for the Wall Campus and I think 48 at Jersey City. The minimum HESI required is an 80%, but to be competitive you should aim for 90% or higher. The teaching staff seems to be very passionate, the program retention and pass rate is very high. There is no interview and the application is through NursingCAS.

Good Luck!

@johndabaker

oh wow, now I'm really nervous to apply. did you eventually get in the program or did you go somewhere else? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what were your grades like? thank you btw for responding! :)

Hi nicoleissac! I'm currently in the program. I got wait listed and a month later got an acceptance email :) johndabaker is right that it is competitive. My undergrad gpa was a 3.1 and a HESI score of 84% but some people in my program had a gpa of 2.5 and HESI of 90% so I am guessing that they are looking at the HESI score more than gpa. If you have any other questions you can PM me :)

Oh wow that's amazing how people got in with a low gpa. that gives me hope!! I would like to ask you more but I don't know how to pm you :(
