NJCU ABSN 2018-19 Cohort

Published

Hi Aspiring Nurses,

So I may be a bit early, considering the 2017 class is just now getting their acceptance letters for this coming Fall. But since late last year, I've been preparing to apply to the NJCU ABSN Jersey City cohort that will begin in 2018. I wasn't able to apply to the 2017 cohort as my prerequisites were not finished in time. I figured others may be in the same boat, so I figured why not get the conversation going. The application will open in October, and that's creeping up quickly, as it always does. ;)

Therefore, I'd like to start this forum to discuss any questions or concerns we might have. I'm attending the info seminar next Wednesday, 3/29 at 5 PM - anyone else going? Some of my concerns are financial aid, specifically how much non-need based aid is available as many of us may not qualify for need-based aid if we work full time now. I currently work in Financial Aid, so if you have any questions about that, I'd be happy to give any info I have. I'm also curious about credit requirements for prereqs - I can't seem to find specific numbers (e.g. how many A&P credits do we need).

Overall, I hope to connect with others who are interested in applying to start in 2018, Jersey City and Wall - please share your thoughts, and I look forward to speaking with you!

Hey everyone! I'm new to this thread! I also applied to the program... just got an email that I got accepted!

So sorry to hear who got rejected just know that you can always apply for January. Look at the bright side you can save as much money so you won't need much loans!

@Kads Congratulations!

Just got my acceptance letter! Can't wait to meet everyone at Orientation!

Just been accepted as well! Congratulations to all of you that got in!

I have started a Facebook group for our cohort already: NJCU ABSN (Class of 2019) - Jersey City Cohort. Please join of you are interested!

Got my acceptance email this afternoon!! Congrats to everyone in the program

Decisions are out!

I did not get in but congratulations to those that did! This program is competitive and I think the fact that I had repeated a course is what got me. I had a 93 on my HESI.

Hey y'all,

I also got accepted!

To those who got rejected and think it's because they repeated courses let me tell you my credentials.

I graduated 2016 with a Health Science degree and a 2.8 cumulative gpa. I RETOOK ALL of the prereqs and got As in all of them except statistics, I had a B. For Hesi I got a 92%. I worked in a PT office as a PT aide for almost a year, and this is my second time applying to this program.

Trust,

I did not think I was going to get in, but to my surprise I did. Don't give up hope and if you need any help feel free to email me at [email protected]

I️ got in too, and I️ still can't believe it!! NJCU was my top choice and I️ got rejected by almost all the other schools I️ applied to, so this feels like a miracle! I️ had a terrible undergrad GPA (almost 15 years ago í ½í¸³) but did pretty well on all my pre-reqs and got a 95% on the HESI. Good luck to you if you're trying again, your perfect. program admission will come through!!

Congratulations to everyone that got accepted! I can't wait to meet all of you. I think they said it's 2 classes of 30 students each.

Hello guys, I am kinda new here. Congrats to u all who got admitted. I was waitlisted, any idea about when to expect a call from them in case a seat becomes available? In other words, when is the deadline for you ( those who were accepted) to confirm admission or make deposit? Thanks and all the best in your nursing career.

Also, Orientation is on Monday, May 21 so you should hear back before then.
