on 7.24 this law goes into effect.
please look for the posting and encourage your coworkers to look for it everyday. report any shortfalls to the state.
when you are aware of the law, it will be more readily enforced.
i'd love to hear about how this pans out, so please add to the thread when this starts!
this was the response i got from the state regarding this matter.obviously, they'll never come up with any 'rules!'
I am responding to your E-mail regarding the law requiring hospitals and
nursing homes to post nurse to patient ratios in each unit on a daily
basis. The law requiring such posting also requires the Department of
Health and Senior Services (Department) to develop rules to implement the
law and ensure consistency in both posting and reporting. The Department
has been working with its Quality Improvement Advisory Committee, as
mandated by the law, to develop such rules and expects a formal proposal to
be presented for public review in the Fall. However, until these rules
become effective, the Department will not penalize facilities that are not
currently posting nurse to patient ratios. The Department believes
hospitals require detailed guidance on how to comply with the law. In the
case of nursing homes, since the law requires posting in accordance with
existing federal requirements, posting should already be occurring.
Questions concerning long term care facility reporting should be directed
the the Department's Long Term Care Licensing and Certification Program. I
hope this explains where we are in the process of implementing this law.
Maybe some pressure needs to be applied on this quality improvement committee. Who are it's members???? Can you find this out-----then we can flood them with emails????
