NJ/PA/NYC NICU nursing job...need a new one

Published

Hey everyone, I need help! I am looking to change jobs, becoming increasingly more frustrated in my current one. I feel trapped to say the least. I would really love to work in the NICU at NYP/Columbia, but they don't ever seem to have any openings. I wouldn't mind nights there either. If anyone has any connections to whom they could pass along my resume, I would be much obliged! I have a year's experience at a Level IV in NJ, graduated with a BSN from Johns Hopkins in '08 and BA from Hopkins in '07.

Please PM me if you can help me out! Thanks so much!

PA and south NJ would be a major pay cut for me, but I guess it depends on the situation. Perhaps if I like the job enough, it may make up for the difference.

Hi Steve, I also sent you a PM. Would you be able to give a little more information? Like if there will be a new graduate program coming up soon? Thank you

I'm in the process of trying to sort through the labyrinthine licensure/certification, interview and contract-negotiating process, so I am not on AN as often as I used to be.

I am so far removed from the nursing education dept, I have no idea when the next New Grad orientation program starts... that would be a question for NYP recruitment...

I will respond to those PMs I have received so far today....Please be patient. Realize that I am still a staff nurse with a very busy schedule, and can only do so much.

Apologies, Steve.

Steve,

I know you're busy with everything like you said. I'm new to this website and the job application process. I am originally from NYC and I will be graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in May with a BSN and a BS from Wharton concentrating in health care management. I have also submatriculated into the NNP program at Penn. As a requirement for the masters program, I need to work in a Level 3 NICU for at least 2 years before completing the clinical components of the masters degree. I had applied for a NICU position at NY-Presby back in January and received an e-mail from them telling me:

"Thank you for your interest in New Graduate opportunities at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. NewYork-Presbyterian welcomes you to apply two months prior to your graduation date." As I will be graduating in about 2 months, I have been on the website daily for the past few weeks now and the NICU jobs that were posted in January are no longer up. I was wondering if you could give me any advice on how to go about contacting/applying for a NICU position- or let me know if there are still even any available jobs.

I completed my undergraduate pediatric rotation in the NICU at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and am currently completing my final senior leadership clinical there as well.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!

SteveNNP, I am also new to all this site allnurses.com and cannot PM anyone either just yet. Could you send me information about how to go about getting a job in the the NICU at NYP? I would appreciate it. Thanks.

So here's the deal. Apparently all new grads are being placed on a wait list. The only advice I can offer is to apply online and hope you get called.
