NJ board of nursing

Published

Hey,

Is anyone else having issues obtaining a license ? I have been waiting for months to receive my license number. I know we are in the middle of a pandemic but I have never dealt with such unprofessional and unorganized people on my life. Geez!

NJ has always been NOTORIOUSLY slow looooong before C19.

I know, not what you wanted to hear, but it's the truth.

I believe it. It’s awful. A government agency they should be ashamed of themselves!

You can check online to see if license granted via name search--license# will be shown if approved:

Let your assemblymen know of delay so they can get license delay resolved.

Thank you for your reply.. The assemblyman of my town or where the board of nursing is?

Contact the assemblyman of your town. They need to hear how bad the BON licensing delays causing inability of new nurse to get license to help relieve facility staffing issues in lieu of pandemic.

Let us know outcome.

They took months to approve my license In 2017 because of an unbelievable backlog. I was so anxious and intimidated, I didn’t advocate for myself properly. I finally just started calling them. Call them every day. Email the correct staff member (at least in 2017 there was on person in charge of last names A-L and one for M-Z and they would go on vacation with no coverage). Keep bothering them, that’s what eventually worked. Good luck! It will happen!

In the past, some super frustrated nurses actually went to Newark to visit the Board IN PERSON to expedite the matter.

However with C19, it could be questionable to determine that the office might be staffed IN PERSON.

Thank you all for your input. I am doing my best to get some answers. I have been waiting since March. This is unacceptable. Pandemic or no pandemic they should have people working around the clock granting licenses. The building is closed and they are “working remotely” . More like sitting around with a stick up their a** collecting a check.

Just wanted to see if you have gotten your license as of yet? I recently sent in my APN application and the processing time is very discouraging. A friend of mine said hers took 3 months while another friend said hers took 6 months! This is unreal.

The NJ BON functions under the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. Don't know if that could help you making some contacts to shake up things, but it might.

Likewise by contacting a local legislator, s/he may take pity on a voting constituent!

Same! I’ve been waiting since September 2nd 2020 And they keep saying they’re waiting for fingerprints to be submitted to my profile even tho I did send them the check in October for the renewal of the fingerprints. They’re driving me crazy IDK what to do. I called the division of consumer affairs and they said the fingerprint results come from the fbi but when I contacted fbi they said they’re surprised how nj BON works because fingerprints you have to take them often not just send a check of $18.75 for renewal but that’s how NJ BON has always done it sooo IDK ?
