This 2 year program started September 2011. I was wondering if anyone here is currently enrolled in this program or is anyone applying to it for Fall 2012?
I am curious to know how their program is structured and gain some insight from current students.
Hey guys! So my webadvisor just updated to "offered conditional admission" and i realized i have to send in my final transcript. On OUAC i made it to send out my final transcript after my degree was conferred. I had my convocation on June 8th and just wanted to know if my final transcript will send now? Or should i call my school and make sure? Congratulations to everyone who got their admissions and good luck to the rest!
So from what i heard from my friend who is in the program:
- 3 months per semester; tri-mestre/year
- 1 month in-class, 2 months in placements (weekly reflection classes for NI sessions)
In terms of placements:
- you get rotated every semester
- so i think you get to be placed in all affiliated of the hospitals (give they have spots available) by the end of the year 1 (i need to double check with her because her top 1 and 2 placements are UHN and TPH and she got placements in Toronto Western (sem1), Toronto Rehab (sem2), and TPH this semester --> have to double check with her)
- There are Student Projects that are due at end of each placement months.
- projects and essays are weighted heavy relative to tests; but tests are also important in that you MUST attain a certain mark in order to pass that semester
They have some lectures, apparently primarily focusing on psychosocial stuff--that's pretty much happens on the first month of in-class. I heard it is standard 5 days/week; starting 8 or 9am and finish as early as 3pm or 4pm.
I heard they are pretty hard on grading essays and projects. The placement projects that i mentioned are like creating your own learning plan, then outline how you'll attain the goals you wish to learn by the end of your placement.
Placement schedule all depend on your preceptor's schedules. then weekly reflection classes (so meet up in the classroom).
For example, for the two months of placements, you'll probably just have to do two shifts per week and the rest is for self-studying. :) That's the current schedule of my friend who is in the program.
Thanks atchi, that was very detailed!
Anyone who paid the deposit already, do we just select payable to Nipissing University (for online banking) and use our account number as our student number? I still havent got my letter yet so i do not fully know the process but I want to finish the application as soon as possible.
Thanks

Conditional means you are admitted for sure. You just have to submit your final transcript. Congrats!
