Nipissing University Scholar Practitioner Program

World Canada CA Programs

This 2 year program started September 2011. I was wondering if anyone here is currently enrolled in this program or is anyone applying to it for Fall 2012?

I am curious to know how their program is structured and gain some insight from current students.

Hi everyone ! I got an invitation too. Any insights on what we could expect? Do you know what they mean by having " preparatory activities" prior to the interview? Thanks for any help and good luck to everyone !

I read somewhere on here that during the interview, they'll discuss the personal essay and narrative pedagogy. Not sure about the prep. activities though. How many of you guys have this program as your first choice?

I did, I already have a Bsc, have references, and live downtown so I put this as my 1st.

Like you said, there are posts from last year's thread which indicates that they will ask you questions regarding your personal statement and references.

Anyone know what the process for selection after the interview is? It would be great if any current student can provide with applicant numbers vs interview selection vs acceptances... I know that last year, they were still accepting applicants AFTER May, which means that either (a) they accepted everyone who went to the initial May interview (probably not likely) OR (b) they rejected some applicants and still had space for more students.

hey everyone, i got an invitation this morning too! I'm super excited as i haven't gotten an acceptance to any of the schools i applied to yet. good luck to everyone!

Ok thanks Anon101! It's my first choice only because I'd love to go to school in Toronto. You ? :)

I haven't entirely decided yet...since they'll be giving out offers in June, I would have already paid my $500 deposit to another school (Trent) :( It is tempting though, since the placements are in top tier hospitals and I could possibly commute via train/subway though it would take me nearly 1.5 hours!

@atchi: Can you elaborate on the 80% requirement for the exams (e.g. the content, format, etc.)? Also do you know why this program lost accreditation a few years ago?

Hey guys, first time posting in the thread.

So how is everyone preparing for the interview? I did some research on this forum and realized that they will ask you questions regarding your experience as well as personal statements. Anyone know how many in total the school is going to be interviewing?

Hi Anon101! I have not heard about the lost of accreditation in 2012. So for the exam, from what I heard, there are few big exams at the end of the semester that requires at least 90% mark in order to complete the semester and move on to the next semester.

Hey YorkUnursing!

That's what I heard as well with regards to interview: talk about ur experience and the question that they gave you on the email they sent you.

From what i heard, there are about +150 applicants this year for 50-75 spots.

Did any of you find out about how their program being non traditional transfers to the states? Also how do we prepare for he interview. Iam a bit confused, as it is just one question but any tips? Also 90% exam to pass..wholy! What if you didn't get that? Then you fall back a whole semester :o

So how was everyone's interview?

had my interview last friday: 9am. It went well, i think. the interviewers were the representatives from the hospitals that I rated top 2: which were Sick Kids and UHN. I was very nervous for the interview (the morning of, while eating breakfast, my heart was beating so fast, it felt like i was working out). When I sat down, they asked me if I was nervous and I told them: "surprisingly, very nervous, and I am not often nervous at interviews". They were very nice and attentive.

My interview lasted about 30mins, that included the time i asked questions.

They said they'll get back with decisions by June (can't remember if they said early or mid)....

How's everyone else's interview?
