Published

Hi there! Looking to connect with others who are applying to Nipissing University's Scholar Practitioner Program for Fall 2019.

Hi everyone,

First time posting here. I had my interview last week and my answer to how I see NI unfolds in the program wasn't given any checkmark. What was the proper answer? lol

Some of the other questions caught me off guard as well. Extremely nervous about the results. Also feeling conflicted because I've been looking at the cost of apartments in Toronto and they are not down to what I can afford.

Hoping to connect with the applicants here. Any folks who have TPH as their first choice here? Hope we all make it in! ?

I chose UHN as my first, however I wish I had chosen TPH instead as my first. judging by your username, I assume you want to work as rural nurse (me too!) and I'm wondering where?

One week till we get to hear back from Nipissing. ?

I think the correct answer is how our narratives and how the patients narrative of their life has an/can impact their care. Narratives are continues (past present and future), including previous experiences, encounters and social determinants of health and focus on places that these experiences took place. Thus inquiring into patients individual narrative can help advocate for what the patient needs, wants and hopes to achieve in their care. It also allows the patient to be included in the decisions and part of their care plans/management. Hope that helped!

I took my answer down a completely different path lol, now I'm kinda nervous.

Since the prompt asked about how NI would unfold within the 'program', I didn't present a patient-centric answer but rather focused on how NI could be used as a learning tool for students.

Did anyone check their account to see if their status has been updated ? Just curious and do they send an email to us if we are accepted or rejected ?

Hi! Love your username, I also hope to be a rural nurse one day and picked TPH as my first choice ? Finding an apartment here can be tough, but totally doable if you have a roommate or 2! I'd recommend getting a realtor's help (its free!) and browsing places like Bunz, PadMapper, etc. - a gem will pop up if you're persistent!

My answer was somewhere in the middle lol! Focused a lot on how learning through the use of narratives and experience reflection would work, and also how it can help us keep our care patient-centred.

From all the research I did, there's honestly so many ways to explore NI and we had so little time to speak about it, so I'm sure we all were on the right path in some way ?

Haha, told myself I wasn't going to check until next week but this just made me see! I'm still at "no decision made". Not sure about rejection letters though, but I assume they have to tell you one way or the other eventually?

I checked today and was "No decision made". Last year, they got to know through webadvisor.

Hello! I had my interview on Tuesday and I put Sick Kids as my top choice but I've heard that there are only a few people that get the placement. Does that affect your chances of getting into the program???

I doubt this will have any effect on their decision. They usually place the rest people who can't get into Sick Kids at either TPH or UHN.
