I had an interview and i was hired :) as an LVN at a convalescent home night shift paying me 16.50/hr should i ask for 17.00 since it is night shifts does this matter? also any adivce to this position how do i get use to sleeping during the day and being awake at night what is there to expect ? This is my firt LVN job and im so excited and nervous at the same time any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!

:yeah:

I'm getting paid 17.54 plus shift differentials for working night shift...not sure how that works but its just extra for working nights. I would probably ask if there are any shift differentials.

hope this helps

my first lpn job was also nights in a nursing home and i made a whopping $5.85/hr with a $1 shift differential. we've come a long way, baby!! lol...it does take some getting used to reversing your days and nights. i've always been a night owl, so it wasn't too difficult to adapt to the hours.

i've heard others who would get up early in the am, then take a nap around noon for a few hours. you may need the assistance of a sleep aid to get used to sleeping while it's daylight out. tylenol pm or bendaryl 25 mg otc would help if you don't need the tylenol. make sure you have room darkening shades or drapes on your windows. good luck and congratulations! :yeah: :nurse:

Buy an eye mask and room darkening shades! I can bounce around day and night sleeping, but some people need to keep to a schedule on their days off too. Kinda makes having a normal life harder especially if its a 12 hour shift.

Good luck!
