"pinch me* It hasn't 100% sunk in .... but I'm gonna be a NICU RN, for real, in a pretty bad ass level IV facility starting Jan 18!
Granted, I've tech'd in the NI for about 6 months, but only the bare minimum shifts because of school and other family obligations. So it's not completely out of the blue.... But I am still extremely in shock and excited beyond belief.
I already have the Merenstein & Garnder NICU "Bible"
What else should I get to prepare???

Hi, congrats! You got hired before you got your nclex?

Awesome! Congratulations! I'm assuming you'll have an orientation program; if so, you really don't need to do anything to prepare. Skimming your Merenstein will be nice because it'll give you an idea about some of the more common disease processes, but your unit will teach you everything you need to know!

Congratulations! Orientation and training will help a ton (obviously), and make sure your basic infant assessment skills are solid. Everyone always says "don't neglect the basics" and it's true. I think that a NICU bible will come in handy as a reference tool, but as HisKids37 pointed out, your unit will teach you everything you need to know. Best of luck to you in your new job!
Yep. Before graduation, even.
Very excited.
