Hello NICU GODDESSES,
okay back on topic....Just wanted to introduce myself. Join this site when I was taking my pre-req's and applying for a second accelerated degree program. Graduated this past september from intense 11 mos of hell(wow it seems so long ago but it was just 4 mos) and started working in a level III nicu in the begininng of this month. I've been on the floor for 5 days so far and clearly am a newbie.
I LOVE it! My preceptor is awesome and a great teacher. I believe I made a great decision. Now when I read the convos on the board it starts to make more sense b/c I can picture it in my head, like the difference between a Giraffe bed and an older servo incubator, the med terminology and lingo, etc. So I cant wait to become more active in this forum. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!:):balloons:

I'm so jealous!! I did a tour through a NICU recently and think it'd be a great fit!! I will start applying after the first of the year for a position hopefully at one of the two hospitals in town with NICUs.
I can relate to what you're saying about the terminology. My guide was pointing out different things and explaining them briefly and I felt SO lost!! I look forward to getting familiar with it all and hopefully being a very successful nurse in that unit!!
Congrats to you!!
