Nhcc acceptance letters?

Published

Hi All-

I know a lot of people who have received their acceptance letters from NHCC in Saturday's mail. I think they'll be out this week!

Anyone have theirs yet??? I'm excited! :clown:

Almost forgot one of the most important things.... CONGRATS on getting in at NHCC! It's always a good feeling when you get the "you have been chosen to enter the 2010 class" letter! Way to go! I also am accepted for the day program.

I only applied to NHCC. :clown:

Thank u for the kudos! Congrats to u as well. I am very excited. :D

Congrats! I got mine and was accepted into the day program. Really bummed for those that didn't get in. No matter what your grades we have worked hard to get this far!

If you were accepted into NHCC's nursing program, would you mind sharing what grades you got for AP1, AP2 and micro?

I, as well as many other of my classmates, are curious. We all have different ideas of what a competitive candidate is when it comes to grades received for these classes and actual chances of getting into the program. I have visited the health care advisors and he and she were both vague on what grades accepted folks had. Just curious...

Congrats, by the way, if you got in! How exciting! : )

I got into the day program at NHCC and my science grades were "B" for API, "B" for APII, and "B" for Micro. My overall grades were a 3.0. I also had all of my classes complete before I applied. Good Luck to you and Good Luck to everyone who got into to Nursing programs!:yeah:

I'll be applying to nursing schools this fall and I had a question. For community colleges, if I finish ALL the general education requirements (anatomy, microbiology, psych, etc) does that mean that if I'm accepted into nursing school it would only take a year of full-time classes to complete my associate's degree? Not sure how it works, but that's what it looked like from the website. It seems technically you only need high school chem to apply, but that they prefer that most or all your gen eds are completed prior to nursing school

Thanks!

After your prereq are completed it still takes 2 years, unless you are doing the LPN to RN track. With NHCC there are 8 nursing classes taken over 4 semesters. I am not totally sure, but I do not think that you can take four classes one semester and four classes the next semester.

Congrats to everyone who has received their letters. For those of you who have not, or were not accepted, keep trying.

As for the classes at NHCC, the classes are:

Fall First Year -- Nurs 1211 5 credits -- Foundations of Nursing

Nurs 1213 3 credits -- Health/Physical Assessment

Spring First Year -- Nurs 1212 5 credits -- Provider Care 1

Nurs 1214 3 credits -- Principles of Pharm.

Fall Second Year -- Nurs 2211 8 credits -- Provider Care 2

Spring Second Year -- Nurs 2212 8 credits -- Manager of Care and Member of the Discipline of Nursing

I am just finishing up my first year at NHCC (Final is on the 11th). I would recommend you take the Principles of Pharm over the summer if you can (makes the second semester less stressful).

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.

Hi Matt,

Can you tell me what you think of NHCC's program? I got accepted into both Anoka Ramsey and NHCC and I don't know which one would be better. Both are about equal distance from my home and are nearly the same price in tuition. So those aren't really factors. So at this point I am trying to determine which school people tend to like more.

Thank you!

Congrats to everyone who has received their letters. For those of you who have not, or were not accepted, keep trying.

Hi Matt,

did you take the Principles of Pharm class on-line or in a class room setting? If you took it in a classroom setting what is your opinion of taking it on-line versus classroom. I know that sounded really wordy but hopefully you get the gist. :)

I like the program and staff at NHCC. NHCC has one of the highest (if not the highest) first attempt pass rates on the NCLEX. I do not think you would be unhappy at NHCC. I do not know anything about Anoka, but have heard good things about it also.

Good luck with your decision. If you decide on NHCC, I am happy to help with anything there. I am in the night and weekend program.

I took the Pharm class on-line last summer (before starting the program). I liked the on-line class. It was weekly discussions and tests. It really helps lessen the work load the second semester of the nursing program. In my class this semester there were about 4 or 5 (out of 50) that did not have to worry or work on Pharm. It really gives you more time to prepare for tests and clinicals.

Hope that makes sense.

Matt
