 Heard of Healthsouth? I believe this Corporation is experiencing the same type phenominon:confused: Makes me wonder, (what in the heck is going through these executives brains, anyway let me try to state this concept, without offending anyone. "My name is Schrusy, I've a job thats cushy, and if you here me say, We must all Pull The Wagon, hurry, quick we all want me to save the day. I've got this pretty large Company, and it has made me a Billionaire, so why do I not steal a little from those dumb people that invested in me?), Oh, by the way I am an employee of this company:chair: I really do not understand, why would a billionaire steal anything when They could, just buy anything they wanted and live like a king until they have to leave this world for a better place? I know, I hear "G-r-e-e-d" as the most logical answer. Meenwhile, I am almost positive that these same minds are Brilliant, in their reasoning, their entrepreneurial spirit. The only deduction I can make, is that they are Challenging theirselves to a game that they know that they only have a marginal chance of winning?!? Just so they can say "I did it My way." or "I beat the odds on that one!" This is only a partial answer to the Question, Kewl? Unfortunately it is two a.m. and I'm falling asleep at the keyboard:eek: Later all you vets and rookies, hope all is well with all who visit here. I've got a scary week coming up, my wife has to have a permanent Cardiac Pacemaker inserted on Wednesday 4/30/03 gotta go I think there is a riot outside Bye?!

Why not? Historically, people have sought power and tackled the necessary challenges involved to gain it. What is surprising? He is just one more person in a very long, and continuing, line that includes all of us.

The individual differences are primarily those of degree and of the arena selected--be it relationships, family, economics, military, politics, etc.

Is it possible that they enjoy being thought of as a successful wheeler and dealer? That they think like to think of themselves that way? When it becomes obvious that they have started to slip and that they have made mistakes they won't face up to the situation. Their public and personal self image is threatened so they start to deny, punish people who warn them. They don't only lie to others but to themselves. All this public and personal deception is to keep their image intact. Keeping their wealth or increasing their wealth certainly plays a part but it is secondary to maintaining self image. It does not help that most powerful people surround themselves with people who only tell them what they want to hear. We see this behavior in goverment, business, religion and in peoples personal life over and over again.

One of my CRNA co-workers offered an interesting analogy- he compared these CEO's to the addict CRNAs he has known who were diverting drugs. Part of their addiction led them to think that they were really smart and everyone else was stupid, and they did not think they would ever be caught. And, as oramar pointed out, the HealthSouth recently fired CEO surrounded himself with yes-men (and yes-women) who only told him what he wanted to hear, adding to his distorted view of reality.
