A Class Action Lawsuit against the College Network has been filed in Ohio. In addition, the Federal Trade Commission is investigating TCN (again) for numerous violations.

This is relevant news to those nurses who were affected by this company, those who are currently using this company, and those who may be thinking about using this company.

So I have been subject to this as well. Started back in December 2007. Went through various times with depositions. Was served for another deposition on 6/25/18, then on 6/29/18, they froze all my accounts, which includes my 17 year old sons accounts as well. When trying to contact, through Ohio State Attorney, they send you to National Credit Union, who intern sends you to State of Tennessee Regulator. And this is because of the fact The Southeast Financial Federal Credit Union is the one against me. But they are no longer a Federal Credit Union, they are now regulated under the State of Tennessee. But unless you file a complaint prior to be served you have no course of action against Southeast. Being the State of Tennessee cannot go against a court served document. Get yourself an attorney. Or find an open class action suit already filed and in motion against The College Network or Southeast Financial. They are out to take the money and not give it back whether you did 1 class or 0. They do not document that classes were cancelled within the 3 day time frame. They keep your original deposit. The books or worthless photocopies in binders. The courts do not care about the books. They have no use. They cannot be returned. But of course this was back in 2007.

These people took advantage of a lot of veterans, especially ones just coming back from deployment looking to further their education and get credit for the training they already had. I wonder why the VA did not get involved in this law suit?

Like many civilians, using TCN was a personal choice. The VA had nothing to do with it...just as employers in the private sector had nothing to do with the choice of thousands of its employees who chose to use this publishing company. Only those whose names appeared on the dotted line were in position to be misled or deceived.

I've worked for the VA and the private sector and have seen many in the same boat with this situation a few years ago. For me, it was Chancellors many years ago. But I knew it was a publishing company. When it comes to these things, it is the buyer who needs to be ware, not the buyer's employer or affiliate.

I agree the buyer needs to be aware, but the sales pitch targeted the Vets and made it sound like it was beneficial, I had contact with way too many vets that got talked into this program and used their VA benefits for it. They are just like those telephone solicitors that contact and take advantage of the elderly and take their money. These people are all crooks and I hope they rot in hell.

Is the TCN still in business?  I could swear it's been only a short while since I last heard one of their solicitation infomercials on late-nite TV. Not REAL recent but NOT long ago either. The commercial was a young black woman rocking a baby while singing  the school praises to a lullaby melody. And I think they still used the same name - that's why it resonated with me.

Anybody else remembering this?

Wow! I didn't see that one...I do recall having a sit-down with TCN back in 2008. But when the man said something that I knew for a fact was not correct, I showed them the door (it was a husband/wife team that was marketing the product in my area back then).

I think I stand corrected. Saw an ad again the other nite - was for Education Connection? So still not sure as they all sound the same to me and raise the same RED FLAGS.
