I just read this and would be interested to hear comments from the Uk nurses.

Sounds like the Bradford I know. Find it a bit annoying though especially when we hear of many UK trained nurses struggling to work. Bradford is very diverse but I also found a lot of arrogance in the city with many going to A&E when they could have gone to either chemist or GP

What I find very sad in the article is the fact that the nurses were expecting a better healthcare system. I have heard the same thing from Philipinno nurses and more recently nurses from Zambia who tell me that nursing care in their own country is better than here. There words were "We come from a 3rd world country, and were expecting healthcare to be be greater here in the UK, but no, our 3rd wrold country care is better!"

My expereince recently leads me to agree with them to a point. I also had care in a 3rd world country and the care I received was better than the care I received when I returned to the UK.

Now, I am not saying that there are hospitals and nurses who do not provide excellent care, however I am saying that there are hospitals and nurses who are providing less than quality care. I think it is time for a shakeup

No great surprises here - wish there was! Not so easy for foreign nurses to come in now though! Would be interested in hearing how long these nurses have been here.

Recent figures show an 80% increase in the number of nursing graduates unable to get jobs - very sad. However, it seems this article was dealing with specialist areas like A&E & ICU. It's that old catch 22 - you need experience to get a job, you need a job to get experience!
