New York University (NYU) ABSN Fall 2023

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone!
I haven't seen a forum for NYU's Fall 2023 ABSN program, and decided to start one. Please feel free to add any information related to the program, application process, any tips, stats, words of encouragement for those accepted into the program, etc. All the best to everyone. I hope everyone's new year is off to an amazing start! ?

I am not sure if $60,438 is the correct tuition. I heard that it is close to $120.000? Please correct me if I am wrong. When I attended the information session , they said each semester is about 30k so 4 Semesters will be 120k?

Yes you are correct. I'm in contact with a student in the program and she said it was ~120K for the entire semester with no aid.

About 30 minutes ago, I spoke with someone in financial aid who told me that the 2023-2024 school year's tuition and fees have not been published publicly as yet. She told me the school would send me an e-mail when they publish it.

Also, I initially saw the estimated tuition cost of $87,000+ as well when I first logged into Albert. But after my FAFSA was processed, I no longer had access to estimated tuition costs.

Additionally, that person also relayed to me that it will take another 1-2 weeks to get my financial aid package. Days ago, I was told it would take 3-5 days... So I shall see within the next 2 weeks.
Seems like the standard time was, in fact 2 weeks based on previous threads

But it sounds like we only have a week to make a decision and place a deposit, how are we supposed to do that without knowing our financial aid package?

Good point. In previous threads, people said they contacted the financial aid office to ask for extensions in making their decisions if their packages weren't available. Apparently, they were granted the extensions. Not sure if that is the case this year

I think some thing to consider with the price tag is whether or not you will be working in a state that pays nurses well. If so, it's very reasonable to pay back the tuition that you may be taking loans on and I think the sim center and the faculty at NYU make the price tag worth it.

are the courses rigorous and engaging? How does the first semester schedule look like in terms of days of when you're in lecture, lab and clinicals?

I think for the most part, coursework can be very intense so you do need to manage your time well. You do get a syllabus and topical outline near the start of the sem with all of the information on there including assignments and such, so you can always get a headstart if you think it'll be too much to manage during the sem. I don't remember how it was for others, but for me and my friends, we usually had 1-2 days of the week off aside from weekends. My latest class last semester ended at 8:45 PM and it was an on campus clinical or simulation class. The lectures first sem take place at 8 AM typically. And you only have 1 class that has lecture, off campus clinical, and on campus clinical and that's Adult and Elder Nursing. You have a mandatory open sim requirement the first sem as well in which you do have to complete a certain number of hrs in the open sim lab in your own time and submit a report of it.

My admission verification letter (which was sent to me today) says that the anticipated start date is September 5, 2023.

Hi everyone,

I submitted my application last week. Hopefully, they get back to me soon. I'm a little bit nervous since I applied to only couple of schools (CUNY and NYU). Congratulations to those who have already received admission letters!

PS. @Potatoes, thank you so much for the insights, very helpful!

Hi! Thank you very much. I know the feeling. I applied to just a few schools as well. Wishing you all the best! Hopefully, they are able to give you a decision soon.
