It's a little early but I figured I would start this thread as we all begin to get our applications in!
I also submitted mine last week, but haven't received my portal yet...I'm expecting I should by the end of the day?

Just a few things...
In previous cohorts, there have been students accepted with an overall GPA of 2.8 and students rejected with a GPA as high as 3.8 and so on. This program is VERY holistic in regards to how they select prospective students. I firmly believe that the personal statement/letters of recommendation weigh a LOT into their decision making process. You can have a 3.8 GPA and work as a personal assistant to a interventional radiologist or whatever but possess an ego the size of the moon if it is evident through your writing.
Concerning the days/weeks/month the acceptances go out: it seems that everyone, each year, has gotten different responses when inquiring with admissions. The first Friday of April, the second week of April, May 15th...three weeks before (I do remember reading this in a previous thread) the program start date...it goes on and on. Of COURSE it is nice to know and I too wish we had more concrete information, but it is what it is. I would just check my email as regularly as I always do and just relax. There have been some people previously who did NOT receive an email at all but had to check Albert only to find that they DID indeed gain acceptance. Checking that once a week or so helps too.
I guess what I am really trying to say is: relax! The weather is getting nicer (for those of us in the NE) by the day. Go out, take a walk/hike here and there have a drink, and keep yourself occupied! The suspense is horrible, I know but keeping your mind of off it will definitely help in keeping you sane!
5 hours ago, CardioCardi said:Does anyone know how many seats are offered and how many total applicants for the ABSN program?
Someone who is currently in the program said there are about 150 their cohort. I went to an info session and was told that they have "no seat requirement". So I guess maybe it could vary by term based on how many candidates align with what they are looking for?
And no clue about how many applicants but hopefully our presumption that there may be less applicants this term is correct! We"ll see!
Some other info worth sharing that I got from the on campus info session is that NYU has 38 clinical site options for students and, of course, their state-of-the-art clinical simulation center is a great hands on resource as well. Half of the clinical hours are done on campus in the simulation center and the other half are off campus in an affiliated hospital. 8:1 student:instructor ratio for simulation center clinicals. 6:1 ratio for off campus clinicals.
This program is in the top 10 highest starting salary for nursing undergraduates in the country. They said the average starting salary for their graduates is 85k and that lots of students get highered at NYU Langone after graduation.
And lastly, there is the opportunity to study abroad in the winter term in either Buenos Aires or Florence ?
Hope that's helpful info!
Good luck everybody! Be sure to post when you get an admissions decision!
Hi everyone I had applied and submitted all my documents including LOR's by early January... But long story short I decided to attend Concordia College. I haven't heard back from NYU, but at this point doesn't make much difference since I don't want to go into NYC and 2. NYU is sooo expensive!
