New York Presbyterian Hospital

Hi!

Just looking for some insight about some plans after graduation and advice on how to make it happen (if possible).

I am a current student nurse set to graduate this December (2014) in Florida from an ADN program. I plan on moving to NJ or NY soon after graduation AND taking my NCLEX in Florida. Once I get my license I will apply for an RN to MSN program in nurse midwifery (online). I am looking for a Labor and Delivery Nurse position in NYC (particularly NYP) as soon as possible. I have been looking into NYP new grad program and see that the prefer BSN. During our last semester we do a preceptorship and mine will be on a L&D, postpartum floor. I am a part of the Student Nurses' Association and Honor Society with a GPA of 3.4 and made Dean's List in the first 2 semester of nursing school.

Okay, so that is a little about myself would anyone care to answer some questions I have.

-If I apply to NYP new grad program, will I be considered? Given my GPA, honor society, continuing to get my masters, etc. I also have CNA experience.

-Does NYP hire ADNs with some L&D experience (for example, I work for a few months in Florida then apply for a L&D position)?

-If my chances are there but could be better, what would you recommend? (Getting NRP, STABLE, etc certifications)

-How can I begin to get the attention of the nurse managers at NYP and other hospitals?
