New York Presbyterian/Columbia (NYP Email) New Grad

Published

I got an email yesterday from NYP/Columbia that I am selected as a "top candidate" and can skip the meet and greet and go to an interview with Nurse Leaders in June. Has anyone else received this now or in the past and could provide advice? I know the process is long being hired at such a premier hospital. Just wondering if anyone could give me some insight.

Thank you!

Did anyone else's dashboard update to 'future consideration'?

Yes mine did too :(

Mine says application under review for a staff nurse position, but for the new grad program, it still says interview. Also, I received an email inviting me back for a second interview this morning. Check your emails everyone!

has anyone else heard back?

has anyone else heard back?

I haven't heard anything as of yet.

They just posted a new grad interview event for April on their site :(... What about us??

how could spots be so scarce but yet they keep interviewing?

Since they hire on a rolling basis, it seems like they want to have an abundance of candidates to consider when there are openings. It's unfortunate for us because there's no guarantee that we will ever be called back to fill the spots before the next round of candidates is interviewed.

how did your second interview go?

It went well! I was recently offered the position.

Hey everyone! I'm new to this site and have been following this thread and I also just applied to the April 2016 event. How did the January event go? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I applied and was invited to the January 2016 event. They look at your application and resume before they invite you to the event. I was invited to the event and I submitted my resume after I had it looked at by some professors and the career advisor at my university. I have a CNA license, strong history of volunteering, and leadership abilities as I was very involved in nursing associations throughout nursing school. I think that is part of why I was accepted to the event. At the event, you will be a table in a room full of others being interviewed. My patient care director called it "speed dating but interview style." Prepare for the event like you would any interview. Dress very professionally. They say to bring two copies of your resume, but I brought extras. If you need any more advice later on, feel free to inbox me.

@rmariee thanks for the reply. Did u already take the nclex? I'm just not sure how serious they'll take me while I'm still in my last semester. The requirements state otherwise but just a little nervous.

I just saw that you mentioned they offered you a position! Congrats on that. Can you tell me when you graduated and when u passed? Just so I have an idea for time reference. You didn't know anyone at that hospital right? How do I inbox you personally?

Just finished the test for the April 2016 event! I was surprised that there wasn't really an application or a place to attach my resume...is this the same test that everyone took last year? I saw that some people were sent emails saying they were a top candidate - was that before or after the new grad event? Thanks so much!
