Is anyone here applying to Niagara University's accelerated program, or graduated from it recently? I'm applying (grew up in Buffalo but live in NYC now) but I'm not sure what to expect as far as how the program compares to others in the area and the state, what the school culture is like, whether grads feel well prepared. Anyone?

Wondershot, have you heard anything from Niagara about interviews? They called me last week, but I had to let it go to voicemail, and I haven't been able to get the lady on the phone since.

Eeep! I have a phone interview with Niagara next Thursday, and no idea what sorts of questions they tend to ask. I'm assuming the usual (why nursing, why this school), but if anyone can give me an idea what to expect I'd really appreciate it.

Hey Rosewater, sorry I didn't see this till now; I don't check in much.

It was a pretty normal interview. We had some preliminary chit-chat, then she asked me to tell her my story of why I wanted to be a nurse, then she asked me to tell her a time I had demonstrated some qualities important to nursing-one of them was "teamwork", for instance. There were two others. She also asked me if I'd really be interested in moving all the way up to New York (since I'm in Virginia). Then I had a chance to ask my own questions.

The interviewer was friendly and informative and left me with a positive impression of the program. I'm currently waitlisted (it's apparently a small program by design) but I'd be happy to become a nurse there if a space opens up.

I'm wait-listed, too. Do you know if we need to do anything to confirm our spots on the waiting list? (I suppose I could reread the letter to find out, huh?). Like you, I'd be happy to attend Niagara. The program seems well designed, with carefully chosen partners and a willingness to seek out new ones if we have a particular interest, plus it's sort of close to my parents' house, where I assume I'd be living during the program.
