2011-2012 BAT - Decker School SUNY Binghamton hopefuls

U.S.A. New York

Anyone else apply for May 2011 @ SUNY Binghamton BAT program? Anyone else anxiously awaiting a reply like me?? :)

How 'bout anyone that was accepted last year - when did you hear back?

Also, what is the program like - I did some searching on BU Brain and it looks like the schedule (classes back to back with clinicals in the same day) can be a little crazy! Were there ever situations where you have both on campus and far-off (Syracuse) obligations in one day?

Thanks!

I applied. I recently called to make sure they had everything because I received an e-mail saying they did not. They did...

I'm really hoping I get in. It is my 2nd choice to Stony Brook. I'm not sure my grades will compare well to others though, but I have some good refs., volunteer experience, and I hope a good essay.

I'm hopeful too!

I have little experience in health care, but lots of science background - we'll see how that is viewed. I feel good about my prereq grades, but I do not have that elusive 3.7++ GPA from undergrad to boast :) Just keeping hopeful that admissions will like me regardless.....

Does anyone have any sense of when we will hear back? I've heard anywhere from early Dec to mid February....that is a long span of anxious mailbox-checking!

Hey All!

Another 2011 SUNY Binghamton BAT applicant here as well. From everything I've read, it appears that they'll be making decisions from now until February, with the majority of invitations sent out in Jan/Feb. If you read the older threads on the forum, it looks like they used to make their decisions earlier.

I'm looking forward to the program. It appears to be a lot of work, but from what others have said it isn't so much that it kills you.

Best to everyone!

I applied that too....still waiting for the acceptance letter at this point.....pretty worry as the bubrain still showing my status as "not entered"....is that the same case for others??

two of my friends already got the acceptance letter last week for the program.

Hi All -

I got my acceptance letter last week as well! I'm pretty excited. Hong, I just checked my BUBrain site - even though I've been accepted, my status still reads 'not entered' as well. So I guess ignore that...

EveryDayAGift

would you mind to tell when did you submit your application ??

Hi Hong -

I had the initial components of my application in by mid-September and the last few pieces were sent in by early October. I wish you the best and hope you get in!

I'm also looking into the BAT program now (i'm a junior at Binghamton University). I was wondering if any of you guys can tell me what was your pre-req GPA and regular GPA. Also, do you think it's possible to enter the BAT program right after I graduate from Binghamton, even though I won't be finishing up my pre-reqs until the end of my senior year? Any relevant information would be helpful, since I'm looking into nursing after considering pre-med isn't my passion anymore. Thanks a lot!!

spirited, I sent you a PM with info on my GPA (I was accepted too).

Hong, I second that BU Brain is not a good indicator of accepted versus not, I'm still "not entered" there as well. From what I understand, no news is not bad news at all yet! I think admissions letters are JUST being sent out and it is only those of us very near to the Binghamton Post Office that already got letters in the mail. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

EveryDayAGift, I'm really excited about the program too! And anxious to learn more about it. May is SOON! Are you local to the area or will you be moving for the program? I live nearby, but not super close so I'll be commuting for the BAT.

@mahanabay, thanks for the PM. it was helpful and yes, I will go to their admissions office and information sessions for more information. I realize I do have a lot of questions that I need answers to. Would you also mind telling me when you finished your application (I hear it is on a rolling basis) and whether or not you entered right after undergraduate? You can PM me again, if you are more comfortable with that. Again, thanks for replying and best of luck to you in the program!

Hi Mahanabay -

Congrats on getting in! :yeah: I'm looking forward to connecting with you in May. You're right - it's not far away. With that said, I'm ready for the transition. Currently I live a few hours away - I'll be moving into the Binghamton area in April. I grew up in central NY...Syracuse is still home base for my family. I'm hoping to plant somewhat near campus to minimize the commute, but another part of me wants to move a bit more out into the country...I've lived in big cities for the past decade. I'm tired of the traffic and commercial sprawl. We'll see.
